Welcome to the New Layouts and Cards for the months of September and October. We would also love to see any other project, photo or imported images you'd like to share with the group.

The rules for this thread are simple: Post a newly uploaded layout, card or project, get comments and give comments on everyone's pages. No "drop and runs" please. If you get love be kind enough to give love back. Since there are several people here, try not to flood the post with too many LOs or cards. Maybe 5-7 in any post and no daily limit. Follow SB.com instructions for downloading and linking your projects.

Come by and join the fun! This thread has gained a fairly regular following. We enjoy seeing new people come by to share their work and join in the fun! You can join in at any time. Just remember that it is more fun if you give love and get love too!

While this is a laid-back community of artists and crafts people sharing their work and support, it's not a place to just drop off work and not visit the galleries of others in the thread. We encourage you to enjoy all the marvelous talent and leave comments! Should you encounter a problem with another poster in this thread, please PM them directly to ask your question or resolve your issue. The hostesses are not referees and can't step in the middle for you.

This is a collaborative effort. We are rotating the job of hosting the thread. Included in the opening post is the schedule of hostesses over the next couple months. Please volunteer as it is the easiest job you will ever have!

Thank you Jane for hosting the last 2 months.

I don't know about anyone else but tomorrow the fall decorations come out including my glass pumpkins! Yea, I so love fall with the colors and the temps.
Otherwise, nothing new (except this thread!) and I'm tearing my hair out trying to get what I envisioned down on xmas cards. Nothing is working so far but I'm not giving up hope. I think I just have too many ideas and can't focus on one at a time. I'd say ADHD but I'm not that either.
And Stamptember is only 2 days away. Yipee!!!!!

Have a great Labor Day weekend. Hope you get to finish your photos of markers Denise. Did you decided on a cutter machine yet?
Sorry Cathe that you didn't see Kian in the marching band but pictures are a great alternative. Check out YouTube as someone that was there may have posted a video.

Linda for some reason your birthdate is not on our list. If you want to share it, I'll put that on the list.

    Sunday
Jane thank you for hosting July/August. Terry thank you for taking over.

Denise- You really braved the heat and got a lot of the markers photographed. Such a great thing to do. Did Tim and your mom stay in the car while you photographed what you wanted to?
Yes hip surgery Sept 16. I'm very nervous about it.

Terry- Thanks for the suggestion to check You Tube. I think as we age we tend to jump from one thing to another. I know I do and I don't have ADHD either.
That and I can't spell anymore. LOL

I had to run to the grocery store and the meat market. I didn't leave until 12:45 because the library opened at 1:00 and I needed a book. I went at 1:00 as that was when they should have opened. No one was there. The newsletter said they were closed on Monday, Labor Day so I don't know why it wasn't opened. If I had known that I would have gone to the grocery store at 11:00. oh well.

I put out my Fall decorations the other day. The white hutch looks nice and I put a few things in the small green hutch in the kitchen. But those are hard to see due to the cross bars "windowpane" doors.
  • Scrappin 2
btw Denise I never heard of the camel experiment. .....can't mess with Mother Nature.
  • Rockmom
Oh yes. We put out our fall decor a couple weeks ago as we were looking for items for the kitchen. BTW 3 Saturdays until it's offically autumn.

Speaking of the kitchen. Katie odered chocolate colored rugs. We are going to have to keep them vacuumed as every little crumb shows. They do look nice though.

Cathe, ask Google about the Camel Experiment in Texas. The Monument will.pop up and you can see the ocean in the background. That is Matagorda Bay where they landed.

I understand being scared. I'd think long and hard about it myself - I'm a coward though. I do know that if I hurt bad enough I'd do it. I'm so sorry you hurt so badly. Hugs and prayers.

I'm about to go try the Silhouette and see if it turns on. I'm so nervous it won't work and I'll get all worked up. So silly...but there it is. That seems to be me these days. Nervous Nellie
  • Southernlady2
Jane thank you for hosting July/August. Terry thank you for taking over.
  • Rockmom
Well will wonders never cease! The laptop turned on and the silhouette opened and there were 702 cuts still in my library as well as the fonts. I'm very happy even though some cuts are missing. I'll take what I got.
  • Gilbert2mandy

I took a hiatus this summer as my scraproom is upstairs and there's no a.c. up there. Glad to be back at it!

  • Terry0773
Happy September! Went to HEB grocery store. I heard the CEO say they are building one here in Sherman right after they get the Prosper store finished. I am thrilled! Steve thought he had to come with me but I have no idea why.
Its a gorgeous day here and it spit some rain but then cleared up. I'm happy too cuz I figured out the problem I was having so now I'm rollin'. My desks look like a 100mph windstorm hit them.

Denise: so glad the Silhouette is up and running and you have your library still. Big sigh of relief!
Cathe: I know 4 people who have had hip surgery and they all say it was piece of cake. So much easier than knee surgery. BFF Pam has had both hips and 1 knee done. And thankfully she finally after 10 yrs is going to have a shoulder replacement too. Can't lift her arms at all. You will do wonderfully just don't think about it now.
    Danielle: HI!!!

Anyone do anything for Labor Day? I'm going to make hamburgers & french fries for supper. Take care....
  • Anna C
    Happy September ladies!

Hope you all are doing well.
  • OnlyJane
    Good morning, everyone!
Started off with a small shower, not enough to have watered anything, now sun is coming out, sky turning nice and blue! Yesterday we went over to ds's and had a nice meal, played with Aria, she lost her first tooth at school on Friday. She got scared, it bled and she cried and cried, teacher was a pro and calmed her down finally, found the tooth and put it in a special baggie with a label that said something like, "Lost my first tooth at school with the date. That girl is growing up for sure.
Anna hope you are doing well, how are things going with everyone?
Terry Happy September to you too! That storm you had sounded awful. Once in a while we can hit with a nasty storm like that scares the heck out of you. We were supposed to get a HEB grocery store in our area, however the powers to be did not want it and would not let this build it like they wanted to, so they cancelled their plans. Most all of us living in the area wanted this store as those who were familiar with the chain loved shopping there. My whole house looks like a hurricane hit it; dang it is so hard to do things with someone else being around all the time. Thanks for posting September/October's forum.
Cathe after you have your hip replacement you will be so glad to not have pain all the time. You will do fine, I know the anticipation of waiting to do it is so hard. Did you get your window coverings yet? I know I am behind in keeping up lately but trying to do better. I have backed off for a few days of weed pulling, tangled with some poison ivy or sumac, etc. Spots on side of neck and some fingers, ugh!!!
    Danielle how are you doing?
Denise glad you had a good photo adventure, sorry about your ankles swelling. Nice that you got your Silhouette up and running again and you still have the library working.

When over at ds's house my dil had already started to do some Fall decorating. I will join the early Fall people too, especially since never put all the Fall away from last year, no need to do that now, just put the stuff out (lol).

    Have a nice day/evening everyone!!!!!!

  • Scrappin 2
    Tuesday

Terry- Doug and Charity came over for dinner yesterday. SIL, Rose had plans. We splurged and bought filets. They were so good. Rum did an excellent job grilling them. I feel for your friend. I hear recovery from shoulder surgery is rough. But my SIL, Lynette has had it done on both shoulders and one shoulder twice.

Denise- You're right, you might regret Chocolate colored rugs. Can you shake them out or are they too large? Do you have a Dust Buster? I love my Dust Buster! Yay on the Silhouette booting up and finding your images!!
Denise- you feel like you are becoming more nervous? I have always been a worrier and can't make a decision...not really worried so it consumes me. I have always a hard time letting the past be the past-not going over in my head what I should have done. It's hard for me to think, "it's done, more on"

Jane- I imagine being a Kindergarten teacher, she's a pro at handling children who have lost a tooth. Our secretary kept cute little tooth necklaces that held the fallen out tooth. Poor Aria she's had a rather rough start to K.
I heard today that my window shades are in. They are being installed on Thursday!
It amazes me how fast the kitchen counters can become messy. It is mostly my stuff. ....except the one corner where I allow Rum-o to keep a few things. I have to watch him though or he would have the whole counter junked up. LOL

Hi Danielle- we've missed you. Are all your crops done growing? I'm still getting tomatoes.

I have never heard of the grocery line HEB.

  • Cdjohnson
Sorry I have been MIA!! Outside yard work and regular work has just got me behind. Now that mowing is about over and the only thing left to do outside is trim my bushes, I should be able to drop in a bit more. I don't think I have created anything in almost a month!! I went to a local Arts & Crafts Festival for Labor Day. It was fun! I bought 3 flags for small yard pole. One is for fall, one is for Halloween, and one is for Christmas. I also bought a plate cozy, bowl, cozy and cup cozy some ladies had sewn. I had some ribbon fries and hand squeezed lemonade to drink. After I got back, I got all of my fall decorations out and put them up. It was a nice relaxing day.
  • Scrappin 2
Hi Cheryl- We missed you!! Is this yard larger than the one at Priscilla's home?
I've always wanted one of those yard poles where you can change the flags/banners for the seasons.
what is a plate cozy? Nice you supported local crafts people.
  • Southernlady2
    hello and good morning

nothing much has been going on here. my friend is come out on the 16 and count the day untill he gets here and i have to pick up at the airport. my parents where going to try to come out here when my friend is out here seen they haven't seen him in a long time but i don't know if they will. my mom told me that my dad said he want to come back out here but i don't know seen my dad dose all the drive. so we will see what happens if they do or not. well i am get lots of tomato and Bell peppers and yellow banana peppers are ounis look like they are done but just keep in the ground until i need some. i think are corn is ready to be pull out. my sunflower is droping. well been cool off in the morning time and warm up but i think sat we are going to be getting rain here. i wish my cameo would work it works sometimes and other times it dose it say it not conceted which it is. i just don't know what to do when my mom was her we work on it and it work and then after my mom left and i want to do something it didn't want to work it is just make me made and i stop use it for right now.

hope everyone has a nice Wednesday
  • OnlyJane
    Good Wednesday morning,
Still morning, ok. Been busy making some phone calls, online banking, etc. We had some light rain to start the day but now the sun is out. Bob already took Baxter for his morning walk so now to decide what to do for the afternoon. Sure don't feel like pulling weeds, etc. Tomorrow will do some grocery shopping and check out a few stores, need to see what is out there for fake Fall flowers for the containers by the front door, and maybe a new Fall wreath.
Danielle how nice your friend is coming to visit and maybe your parents also. Nice too that your garden is still producing tomatoes, peppers, etc. Do they still make the Cameo? Stores like Hobby Lobby, Michael's seemed to just carry the Cricut these days.
Cheryl glad to see you back on here. Having to mow and do other things in a yard sure is time consuming. For me this year has been horrible with all the weeds. We have the front yard maintained by Weedman and even they can't seem to control all the weeds. Perhaps I should get a company with a different name than Weedman (lol).
Cathe how nice your window coverings will be installed this week. I want to spruce up the inside of our house but just don't know where to start. It just seems so hard as Bob takes up so much of my time, so many interrupts all day long, even making a simple phone call becomes a problem. Oh well, like I have said before it is what it is. Life sure is not perfect.

Hi Terry, Denise, Anna and Judy, Linda

    Have a great day!
  • Terry0773
Morning everyone. Steve is out training which is great with me as he was being a snot last night. I vacuumed and did a load of clothes this morning too.
I'm really not doing anything except shopping on Amazon for vitamins and I did buy a stamp set on SSS for the xmas cards. I need to clean the desk as I have so much stuff out I have nowhere to work.

Cheryl---glad to see you drop in! I know how busy it is when you are the only source to do yardwork. I guess I'll be the one digging little bushes up and transplanting them. But not until it cools off a lot! How goes work? I saw the FB photo of the 3 grands. Cute little tikes!
Danielle: sounds like your garden is ready for everything to be harvested. Do you harvest the sunflower seeds? Sorry to hear about your Cameo. Is it Bluetooth connected? Or cable connected?
Cathe: I love Filets wrapped with bacon and then BBQ'd. I prefer having it at a restaurant as Steve believes everyone needs to eat meat cooked rare and refuses to cook my steak medium well. A plate or bowl cozy is usually 2 squares sewn like small quilts for the padding. Placing the two squares offset and sewn together. So there are 8 points (corners of the squares). Somehow when made they want to form a recessed "hole" in the middle and that's where the plate or bowl sits. They are like potholders for bowls & plates. Look on Amazon under Plate cozies. They really are awesome!

Well the desk isn't cleaning itself!
  • Southernlady2
i have a pole flag for little flags that i have by my front door and i have alot of little flags for every hoilday and spring and summer and fall.

Terry it is cable connected. i try unplugging it and plug it back and do other stuff and it still not working great.
  • Rockmom
Cathe. I think I go through some periods of anxiety the not, then anxiety, etc. 🙃 different ages, different moods? I don't consider myself as an overly anxious person but not totally calm either.

Danielle, sorry your cameo is giving you trouble. It's not fun. Hopefully your parents can come back. Those little holiday flags are fun!

Jane, oh no. Poor Aria to loose a tooth at school like that. Scary when it keeps bleeding if you've not gone through it before. HEB is where we shop. There is a new one just across from our neighborhood.

Terry, crazy desk! Lol! Why don't they clean themselves?
Hi Cheryl! Welcome back to the thread. We miss ya!

  • Ktracyfabian
Hi, I'm posting for the first time today. My name is Tracy, I'm 65y.o. and I live in Tuscaloosa, AL. My husband and I moved here about 2 years ago from Northeast PA to be closer to our grandchildren, as well as to be closer to one of our sons as we age (my husband is 75). I just happened upon this list when I saw that there were challenges at SBC. I've been crafting since I was about 5...my grandmother and I would cut out the people in the Sears catalog and make houses and other clothes for them. We also scrapbooked using those awful self-destructing newsprint books that were popular in the 50's and 60's. I started scrapbooking again in the 90's and moved to card making about 10 years ago. I still have a couple of scrapbooks to do, but I really enjoy card making more. I like to teach paper crafts and have taught at Michael's and JoAnn's while they were still in business as well as some of the conventions and local stores. It will probably be another month before I post anything. I have chronic back pain along with a few other health issues and I'm going through a pretty rough patch, but I'm really praying I'll be back at my craft table before the end of the month.

Scrappin' 2-I understand being nervous about joint replacement surgery. But I wanted to let you know...more than half of my husband's 7 siblings have had hip replacements (the others, including my husband have had knees) and they all got through with no major problems and barely a slow down in their busy schedules. Most only required Tylenol for pain afterward. I'm sure you'll do just as well!

If anyone happens to be near Tuscaloosa, I'm in search of a crafting buddy. Drop me a line. My email is [email protected].

I look forward to seeing your creations and hope to share a few of mine, too!
    Tracy
  • Terry0773
Morning! Nothing new or exciting except I seem to have caught the nasty thing the dogs all thru last week. No energy, bathroom runs of course, and a very disgruntled gut.
I finished 7 xmas cards yesterday which cleaned off my desk---mostly. I have 4 left to finish and then on to creating more!

Denise: I'm like you that I get anxiety once and a while but the funny thing is my stress usually happens after the fact. Except on surgeries because of past experiences. Did you see there was a tornado whipping thru a town near Dallas called Elm? And we had totally blue skies all day.
Cathe: I do understand being nervous and antsy right now. Focus tho on how much better you will feel afterwards! BFF is having a total shoulder replacement not just a fix. Her shoulders are shot and there is no fix for her. I've tried to get her to do this for over 12 years and she finally made the decision. She basically ran out of excuses too---knees are replaced, hips are replaced, no longer works, and Kevin is okay with his knees now too. Are they coming today to put in the blinds?
Hi Tracy: I'm Terry and a recent transplant from WA to TX. Like you said, we followed our son just to have someone around to help us. I live in N Central TX and love it here. I'm 73 with 2 sons, 4 grandchildren, and 3 step grandkids from Thailand. I've been scrapping for over 20 years and card making was an extension to that. Welcome to our group, post anytime you would like, and just jump into the conversations. Read pg 1 for the few rules we have which isn't much for sure. I'm the hostess for Sept & Oct and we rotate it. Pretty simple.

Ok...hope everyone is safe and well....
  • Rockmom
    Hi Tracy
Denise here. I live in SE Texas near Houston. We have 3 adult children and 6 grandkids. Hubby 74 and I 69 along with my 92 year old mom live with our daughter, sil, and 2 grandkids ages 11 and almost 8 that I homeschool. I've been an arts and crafts person all my life and got into scrapbooks in the early 90s. I also enjoy photography, history, writing, genealogy, and I am an avid collector of rocks, fossils, and minerals. Welcome to the thread. We do a lot of chatting and we share our work here. At Christmas we exchange Christmas cards...ones we make or purchase.
  • Rockmom
Cathe, Katie -my physical therapist daughter, said to tell you that hip replacement is the easiest to recover from out of hip, knee, or shoulder replacements.

  • Scrapperb2
Hello Tracy, welcome. My name is Linda 74 and live in Nothern New Hampshire in the heart of Mt. Washington Valley, surrounded by mountains, about 50 miles from Canada. We have 2 grown children, had five grandchildren, and two great grandsons. My first scrapbook started when I was a child on our first trip to the deep south. My real scrapbook started when I was a senior, with prom & graduation, and continued thru today scrapping every generation. Over the past few years, I started card making.
We did some groceries, this am and saw a turkey convention on the side of the road, I wrapped Scotty's 2nd birthday present, but I'm not driving, and Rene can't. Carrie's car is full. In a way I'd rather be home. We had a pesky raccoon hanging around at night. The bears are roaming as I found another pile of skat in the yard by the stone wall....yuck! but they can't get the feeders anymore. I've been putting away garden ornaments, lights, picking veggies and freezing most, I still have more peppers.
The cats will be due for shots next month, $15.00 for each shot, and I have to watch the clinic schedule and next Sunday is the clip the claw clinic $10.00 each cat. They both stretch along the windowsill watching the birds at the feeders, it's funny to hear them chirp at them.
Well got to go, I'm going outside this afternoon to work some more since the temp. is 81
  • OnlyJane
    Good afternoon, Thursday
Cloudy, under a tornado watch and severe thunderstorm watch until 2:45PM, it just started getting windy with sky started to get dark, so something is brewing. Just heard some thunder. Now the Weatherbug app just issued a dangerous thunderstorm for our area.
Terry sorry you are not feeling well. Maybe something is going around because today while shopping for groceries started feeling sick to my stomach, still feel that way so I did get the groceries but went on home quickly. That is a lot of cards you did, and I bet every one of them is gorgeous. Facetimed with Aria and she asked me if I would buy one of her school's coupon books? They have been selling these since my boys were in school, full of different coupons from the local merchants, etc. So of course, this Grammy said yes.
Denise I agree with your daughter on hip replacement being easier than the others. Bob's healing from the hip went much faster than the knee. I was disappointed about our area not getting a HEB grocery store. It sounded awesome from others who had shopped there at other places.
Danielle glad you got your yard mowed before it rained.

Tracy, welcome to our group. We love to chat, do crafts, scrapping, cards, etc. Stop in when you can, would love to see some of your projects you have done. I am Jane and live in Farragut, just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee. We are close to the Great Smoky Mountains which are beautiful. My husband retired not long ago, so it has been a big adjustment of him being home as he traveled extensively for many years. We have 2 sons, oldest is an engineer/project manager for Sieman's Medical, the other works for the Sheriff's department, one granddaughter who is 6 and in first grade, two dil's who I dearly love, plus they all live close by which is so nice.

Think I will have something very light for dinner to give my stomach a rest. We have enough left overs of steak and potatoes to make a good meal for Bob so that is good.

Have a wonderful rest of your day and evening, be safe!

    Thursday

Tracy- welcome to our group. My name is Cathe, age 77, married to Don, his nickname is Rum which is the first 3 letters of our last name. We live in Northern Illinois, very close to Wisconsin. We have a son - 2 kids and a wife. They live 15 min. away. Their DD just got married on Aug. 1. Our daughter- 3 kids and a hubby , moved to TX in 2020. I was not happy. -still am not happy. I have been scrapping for at least 25 years maybe more. I was a Stampin Up demonstrator for awhile, so I do make cards. I really don't have any other hobbies. I dislike yard work! I love cats but my DIL is allergic so we can't have one. We love Old English Sheepdogs and have had 3 during our married life. -but none now.

Danielle- Sorry your Cameo isn't working. It's too bad you can't get it to work. It is so nice Steven will be visiting you soon. Was he a neighbor when you were growing up? I saw some of the yard flags that go on that low pole thing at Menards today. I've seen cuter ones tho so I will look at Hobby Lobby or Michael's. I almost said I'd look at the big craft fair in Oct, but I don't know if I will be recovered enough to walk that.

Jane- "Weedman" is a funny name for a lawn care person who kills weeds. I got a chuckled out of that. I sure hope your stomach calmed down. By now your severe weather may have passed. Hope so.

Denise- Thank Katie for her reassurance. You have so many interests. It makes me think I should pick up another hobby. LOL I do enjoy genealogy-guess that's a separate interest from Scrappbooking.

Terry- I'm glad Steve is getting out of the house and giving you some free time. Sorry you have had a gut issue. Hope it is gone by now.
The blinds/shades came today. They look very nice. I think I'm going to love the expensive, "layered" shades.

Linda- how nice you can get your cat's shots and nails clipped for such a reasonable price.
Bears-oh my! We have a huge Barred owl that has been stopping by. He's really cool.
So if Carrie's car is full, is there someone else you can catch a ride with?
  • Rockmom
    Cathe. I'll tell her.

I think one hobby or maybe two is enough. I get so thinly spread between them. I forgot to say I also doodle and watercolor. Lol silly me. I'm sitting here looking at my sketchbook which is on my bedside table. Somethings gotta give and it will l ikely be me!
  • Scrapperb2
Nice breeze coming thru today. I did the dishes, cat litter, made my bed and put my clothes away. Later I'm going to do the wood floors upstairs. I drink tons of water and some days I can't get enough. I don't know what to make for dinner tonight. I didn't cook last night, Rene was tired and went to bed sooooo early, 6:45, sometimes it drives me crazy.
Denise....hopefully you are feeling better today. Being out of sorts is not good as it sets the tone of the day
Cathe.....Carrie is the only one up here that is driving down. It is 21/2 hours away, then the party, 21/2 hour drive home. Rene can't drive that far anymore. I had to go to CMC in Manchester, he scraped the side of the truck on a pole and put a little dent in it along with yellow paint! He scares me on the highway now and told him no more trips to Manchester or Concord hospital
Jane....tornado watch oh my! Thankfully went don't have to deal with that problem. N.H. is in a severe drought now, we need rain desperately. I've been following different forecasts for this coming winter season, and it says we might experience an "old fashioned" winter with a lot of snow and much colder temps in Jan-Feb! Yuck, I hate the Artic blast, wish it would stay in Canada.
  • Southernlady2
    hello and good morning

Cathe- no he was not a neighbor where i grown up. my parents knew his dad they went to school with his dad. steven parents live in the same area. so we are kind like family. he kind like my brother and we are both the same age i am little older and his sister and my brother are the same age to. we grew up toghter him and his sister. we went to the same school as little kids.

well today is grocery store day here. little cool here this morning. my husband ask if we going to California for Christmas i said yes but i like to stay little longer that way i can see Remi more seen i don't get to see her much and she doesn't really like facetime she will do it but she doesn't like it i think she likes when she see me in person. i want to see my grandma seen she get old .

hope everyone has a nice friday
  • Terry0773
Hey Ladies: Still not feeling the best but getting better. It's "date night" and this time we are having BBQ at a place called the Cackle & Oink. Funny name. I'm putting myself on no carbs today since my glucose is too high again. Getting sick does that to me.
Steve says the young guy that put up the corbels will be back tomorrow to finish hanging the outdoor patio shade blinds.

I'm still working on the xmas cards and I have 14 done and 2 more planned. For these its a real process because I have to get the jpg photos off the web and print, cut, size, and then glue them down. But I must say I'm having fun and that's what counts!! And they are all different too. Piqued your interest? hehehe!!!

Anna: hope all is well with you and Bucky. How did your Mom's 90th birthday go?
Cathe: Glad you like the blinds! Have you decided if you are putting up valances to go with them? Any weekend plans? I hate yardwork too and after 50 years of doing 90% of it, Steve can now enjoy doing it. He says don't put anything like plants etc in where I have to mow around them. Then 2 days later he wants me to plant 5 Crape Myrtles. I'm waiting til next month maybe when its very cool here.
Cheryl: how are you? Any plans with the grands this weekend?
Danielle: That would be great for you to be able to stay longer to visit at Christmas.
Denise: I have too many hobbies too but some I only do in spurts. Photography is suffering some but I plan to do more. Just need to get my butt in the car and go. Sewing is almost non existent anymore as my machine is getting old and I'm not replacing it. I read alot every day too. Need to get back to learning and playing more with PhotoShop. How are the kiddos? Cooper doing better at spelling?
Jane: We are expecting really bad weather here tomorrow from the typhoon that was in the Pacific. Its headed across the Baja peninsula now and will be here tonight. I do not enjoy shopping at either H L or Michaels. They just don't keep up on the current paper craft stuff including papers. How is your gut feeling today?
Linda: It would be a shame to miss the party but that sure is a long drive. I've noticed things like that when Steve drives too. Stopping not quick enough, lane serves, and that foot is way too heavy on the gas pedal. I suggest I drive and mostly I do especially if we are headed into Dallas. Anymore bear sightings?

I need to go get decent so I can go get supper. (decent being putting on a hat & bra. I am a proud member of the "We Do Not Care" club and one of the rules is "bras are optional"!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Saturday afternoon

Linda- 2 1/2hrs one way is far. I hope we get a lot of snow this winter. We too need the water.

Terry- Hope you are feeling better and enjoy you date night.
I'm not putting up any valances or window coverings. ....although that would cover up the holes......hmm? Maybe I will reconsider.
I haven't even thought of a Christmas card idea. Next Friday I'm going to the SU Open House. There will be samples of the things in the mini-catalog. Maybe something will catch my eye. OR I might just use up my 49 and Market Christmas line and make it into cards. I dunno.

Danielle- it would be nice to be able to stay longer at Christmas. Hope Jim can get the time off.

Denise- I think it's great you have so many interests.

Say does anyone use any apps like Luminosity to play games?

I had a nice day. Carole and I went out to the apple orchard. They have a big barn with all kinds of jar-ed Salsa's, candy, candles, Halloween decorations and apples. I got donuts and ate one while it was warm. Then Carole and I stopped for lunch. Then when we got back to her house I went to Woodman's grocery store. ....again. I decided I need some staples that I didn't get yesterday. Came home and took a nap.
  • Terry0773
    Hello....
Cathe: I don't have that but I may get it. I have an app I play every morning called Puzzle Page. It has all kinds of puzzles and word games like Quordle, WordSnake, Circuits, Diamond Crossword, Sudoku, Kakuro, etc. They give you "coins" each day from 10 to 20 and those buy the games. You can purchase more if you want. I've played this app for 3 yrs now and really love it. Nice fresh warm donut sounds divine!

Finally feel like myself again. The guy did come at noon and they fixed and put up both outdoor blinds. Steve wanted me to buy a 3 ft tall molded metal leaf water fountain so I did. It has 5 layers of leaves that the water flows down. Shouldn't have spent the money but what the heck!

    Off to make another card.

    Saturday afternoon

I finished scrubbing the paste off the other 3 walls....well one wall has the door so that helped. I ran into Sherwin Williams and got a gallon of paint. It is called Rainwash....it is hard to describe...maybe a teal/grayish/green? Then I stopped and got a lottery ticket at the gas station. Now I'm resting.

Terry the only game I'm familiar with that you mentioned is Sudoku. I'm terrible at math. I'm terrible at crossword puzzles too. Maybe that's why I need these types of games? LOL
So glad you feel yourself again. Rum has mentioned over the years that he'd like a water feature. I have always nixed that idea as he wouldn't take care of it. It would break and it would be one more thing Doug would have to haul to the dumpster.

Hello to all. Slow day in here.
  • Cdjohnson
Hello all! I realized it was 3 days ago when I came in. Today was gorgeous! It was cool and rainy when I got up. By lunch time, the sun was out and still only low 70s. Izzy and I spent a couple of hours at the park. She had so much fun! While it was raining, we colored, drew in chalk on my carport and made another Halloween project for my front porch. After I took her home, I stopped by the store for ingredients for chili for tomorrow. I ate supper and then went for a 3-mile walk/run.

Cathe - You have been busy with the walls. Your paint color sounds interesting.

Terry - Glad you are feeling like yourself. I have quite a few Christmas cards already complete. I probably still need more.

Denise - I have the same problem with lots of hobbies. Of course, there is scrapping but I also love crochet, general crafting like wreaths and decorations for the house and running/walking. I can get easily distracted!

Welcome Tracey - My name is Cheryl. I live in Calvert City, KY. I am a widow. I have 7 grandchildren and 2 children. I keep my youngest granddaughter every Saturday while her mom is working. She is 5. My oldest grandchild is 16. I am a nurse and work at a local hospital as the Patient Safety Officer in Risk Management.

    Good evening, Saturday
No sunshine today, light rain off and on. Tomorrow it is suppose to be sunny, no rain. Sounds nice. Today seemed like a long day, did the usual, make the bed, dust some, put some things away. The UT football game today was not on any regular network, only by streaming on ESPN or SEC+ and you had to pay a fee to watch. Since we pay so much for cable, just decided not to watch.
Cathe you sure stay busy, so glad you were able to get all the paste off the walls. The paint color sounds nice. I don't play games on the computer, use to play solitaire, need to start playing it again. Bob does the daily Sudoku that is in the newspaper. Eating a warm donut, yummy.
Terry glad your feeling better now. Glad you got your outdoor blinds up, bet you will enjoy being out on the patio when it is really sunny with them down. That fountain sounds so pretty, are you putting it on the patio? We have a bird bath and bird feeder in the backyard. The feeder is suppose to be squirrel proof but they still get into it. I bet all your Christmas cards that you have finished are gorgeous! I need to get my supplies together so I can attempt to make Christmas cards.
Linda that would be a long drive to go to the birthday party. No doubt Rene does not feel up to driving that far and you feel you need to be home in case he needs some assistance. You sure stay busy with your yard and house. How is the wrist doing?

Hi to everyone, hope you have had a good day!
    Take care

  • OnlyJane
    Hi Cheryl,
You posted as I was posting! Glad you and Lizzy had a nice day together. Wow on a 3 mile walk/run, good for you. Chili sounds good.
  • Scrapperb2
Quiet day, didn't sleep well last night and I will be groggy most of the day. Football Sunday! Naturally my team already lost, but I should used to it. My gs loves to rub it in. I don't know, this week I am in a funky mood, sad really. This week will be putting all summer stuff away, a lot of work, I wasn't invited to go to Santa's Village with all the family Labor Day Weekend and there wasn't room for me to go to birthday party. Rene said we need to trim up the bushes in front, ah I said no, I've done them twice this summer, the lawn needs mowing one more time, fat chance. Sorry, I'm sulking. He isn't able to do much anymore since his massive heart attack.
Jane ... don't you hate that having to pay to watch a football game? We have cable but I think it is crummy with what they offer, a lot of repeat channels and you are right it's not cheap.
Is UT a college game? I grew up at UCONN.
Cheryl... having a little one around is so much fun. I miss those days. Wow three miles congrats. How did the chili go?
Cathe....getting the walls ready to paint is hard work. Rainwash sounds like a lovely color choice. No luck with the ticket?
Hello Denise, hope you are doing well
Terry.....we had a black plastic "pool" in my garden that had pretty upward spray and the pump circulating the water. I had frogs swimming and birds drink from it. The big problem was the bears liked it also as one morning as I was drinking coffee he came right up and drained it! Now I have a step fountain, it's much easier to keep clean and is easy to drain for winter. I also play games like Vita Mahjong, Mahjong Club, Jigsaw puzzles and my favorite June's Journey.
Anyway the dryer just buzzed so I will fold clothes before the football games start
  • Terry0773
    Morning...
Made a trip with Steve to Tractor supply and I've got to say, I always find a shirt or tee shirt there! And a Carhardt tee shirt for $20? Yeah, I bought it.

Jane: I just looked and the UT game is on YouTube now if you don't mind watching it a day late and its free. Steve has gotten bah hambug with football so I will watch my teams when I can and he can join me or not. We had a "discussion" about that water feature. First he said I could put it anywhere, then he went on & on & on about how it had to be right off the patio so it could get electricity. Well no birds are going to come drink on it there with the dogs & us around it. So I got mad and said I was sending it back--too much hassle & too much drama. Then he got mad and on & on. He finally said something about a solar pump but I don't think this thing will do that. If not, I'm sending it back. Always now with him is he has to be in total control of everything all the time.
Cathe: that Rainwash color sounds intriguing. What paint brand is it? I would like to see if I can google the color. I still have my bedroom and bath to paint but I've put it on the back burner. Winter would be a good time to take on that project. Any dinner co today?
Cheryl: I saw Izzy's video on FB. Holy moly her hair is long!!! Good for you that you are walking 3 mi a day. I need to get on that bus soon!
Linda: I would have dropped my coffee if I saw a bear in the back yard! I have had experiences back in the old house seeing turkeys, horses, cows, deer, and a gorgeous elk with a huge rack, and also a few coyotes now and again traipsing thru our yard. I draw the line with bears tho! I also play Mahjong and I finally loaded a Bingo game just for fun. I'm really addicted to Instagram tho. See the funniest clips on there.

    Time for lunch!!

    Sunday

Terry- the paint is Sherwin Williams called Rainwash..It is looking like an aqua. Maybe I should have gone with the paint from Menard's that is Pittsburg paint. I thought it had more gray in it. I probably should have gotten a pain sample, but I needed to move this project along.

Jane- Cost of cable is ridiculous and they keep putting sporting events on other channels that we don't get. Like when they put the Cub game on Marquee

Doug, Charity and Rose came for dinner. I put chicken breasts in the crock pot with taco seasoning and covered in Salsa. It shreds easily. That's it, no sides other than applesauce. I offered a homemade choc. chip cookie for dessert.

Linda- sorry you are sad, It doesn't feel good to be left out of family things. To me it seems like I get left out of conversation between Rose (sil) and Charity (dil). I want to say "hello", I'm in the room.

Cheryl- I'm happy that you can get back to walking. 3 miles is a long way. I have been telling myself once the hip heals I am going to walk -at least around the circle. I too was surprised how long Izzy's hair has gotten. She is a really cutie.

Today I sanded the spots I had spackled. I painted most of the areas. I wanted to get one coat on all walls, but I had to stop. I was just too tired. I had Doug look at what I had gotten done in the bathroom. I am upset the spackling shows. He said he thinks it needs to be sanded more. He is going bring over his electric sander and do it for me. I imagine he will paint also. I'm fine with that. Going up and down the ladder and getting on the floor to paint the part lower wall, is not good on my hip and knee.
  • Rockmom
The only game I play is Vita Mahjong so I've not used that app.

The paint color sounds pretty. Rainwash... fresh and clean. Getting on the floor is hard. Don't hurt yourself.

Sounds like a cool water feature, Terry. Too bad he made a stink.about it.

Took a drive to the,Texas visitor center on I-10 at Louisiana border. It's about 2 hours over there and 2 hours back. They have a portion of the Blue Elbow swamp at their backdoor and a long Boardwalk for viewing. Tim likes to look at the resident alligator and I usually take photos but today I went through the racks of brochures and brought home two big bags full. I found several places I didn't know about that Tim or I would like to visit. There's an Audie Murphy museum...Tim would love that. Also the WWII Pacific war museum in Fredericksburg has been redone since we've been. He wants to see that.

We waited til 1 pm to leave as a big storm with the front rolled through this morning. Didn't want to drive in that mess.

Staying in Cali longer would be nice, Danielle.

    Good Monday afternoon,
What a beautiful day, started out at 56, plenty of sunshine, now it is 71 at 2:00pm. Sure, feels like fall. This is whole week is to be like this.
Anyway, just the usual for today so far. Did begin a massive clean every room endeavor, one bathroom finished, still lots of rooms to go, oh well by the time it is all done, will be time to start again.
Denise, nice you did another adventure over the weekend with Tim. All you planning to do more of these more often now? It is nice to just get out and see things. Glad you found a bunch of brochures to bring home to find more places to see.
Cathe, glad you had company for Sunday. How nice Doug is going to do some sanding on your bathroom walls and paint for you too! Bet you are busy this week. When you have your hip replaced will you stay in the hospital overnight? I know of several people who had knee replacement and went home the same day, Bob stayed 3 days for the knee. When he broke his hip, I think it was 3 days. You will do fine, think positive thoughts and just think, your pain will go away. Glad you like your new window coverings; they sound super nice!!!!
Terry, thanks for the info on the football game being on YouTube, would have never thought of that!!! This Saturday UT plays against Georgia, that game will be a network game. Neat that you found some tee-shirts at a good price. Sorry about the drama on the water fountain. I swear why guys like to do this, every time I wanted to plant something, I would get the "no it can't go there because......routine. Bob liked to try and micromanage me, but now with his different thinking, it becomes quite funny at times (I do have to think this way because I need some humor). Do you think Steve is settled now into your move?
Linda, hope you slept good last night. Thank goodness for the most part I do sleep good at night. It is hard when you are so use to your hubby being able to do so many things around the house and yard, then something happens that they can't do as much anymore, so you have to either do it yourself, learn how to do it, or have someone else do it. Did you hear how Scotty's party went, bet he was a happy boy. Hope someone sent you some photos. My son is good at sending me photos of Aria, but I have to ask for specific ones from dil.
Danielle, what did you do this weekend?
Anna, how are things with you, Bucky and parents?
Cheryl, how is your dad doing?

Time to go, will be having spaghetti for dinner tonight. Enjoy the rest of your day and evening!

    Monday Monday
I cleaned the bathrooms. Then I worked on getting summer clothes to the basement dresser and bringing up the long sleeved shirts and sweater. Man o man is a pile of shirts heavy!! LOL I need to switch shoes around too. But at least they all stay upstairs. Sure wish I had a big closet where everything could stay put. My sis has one of those. I'm jealous.

Jane- I think you have to think of the humorous side of things or you'll go crazy. Rum seems to be the one who isn't forgetful around here...I am. Scares me.
Your weather sounds like ours. It is delightful. We are going to get up to 80 again for a few days. That's a good thing. Maybe my remaining tomatoes will ripen. Then just aren't quite there yet.
Oh---I go home the same day. I'm going to a surgical center.
    I like that quote.

Denise- how fun you found brochures and new things to visit. I love to pick up brochures. LOL
I'd like to go to the Audie Murphy museum. I'd like to learn to play Mahjong.
  • Rockmom
Cathe I got tired thinking.about carrying shirts up and down stairs. I'm grateful to have 2 kids to do that for me now, mostly anyway.

Yeh, humor, it's really helpful. Remember the Reader's Digest column, Laughter is the Best Medicine? I always read that.
  • Scrapperb2
I woke up to a very chilly 36 degrees, just a reminder of what is coming soon. The days are sunny though into the 70's and is giving me the weather to finish putting away summer items. Yesterday all of the bins are stacked in the shed, Rene came out, sat down and cleaned all of the yard lights and turned them off, so nice to have him outside with me. Today he said he wants to help me put the table and chairs away and take down my windchimes in top of the gazebo to hang in the shed. Sad to see summer gone, fall upon us heading towards....snow!
Cathe....that is great Rum is helping you in the bathroom. I bet you are excited to see it finished. Changing clothes is a pain in the neck. I don't do that anymore as I don't have that many clothes. I do bring out coats from our spare closet and hopefully I can find my boots this year. I rarely go out so it wasn't bad. I used to store clothes in the attic, but I have difficulty climbing up and down the ladder with clothes.
Jane...I wish I could tell you I've been sleeping better, but not at all. I think some of it is stress and thinking too much. I guess Scotty's party went well. No, I didn't get one photo and I'm not happy about it and Cody hasn't given me a thank you for his train set, so I don't know if Scotty liked it along with some match box cars. Great inspirational quote.
Terry...great find on the t-shirts. I'm thinking about buying a few new long sleeve tops, Rene keeps telling me to get some for this winter, maybe. I do watch highlights on You Tube, I get to see the good plays in other games. In our area we watched NE lose...again! I'm really not a fan of any N.E. teams or NY either. I do however, like just to watch and enjoy the game and great plays they make without taking sides. My favorite team, Dallas disappoints me a lot. Rene knows better than to tell me what to do outside, he really doesn't care. I think I could plant a palm tree and he would say "that's nice!"
Denise....did you make any plans from the brochures you picked up? I know TX is a big state and there must be tons of places to visit. Kevin still wants Rene and me to fly out, we are seriously thinking about it. My DIL Lara is a travel expert and deals galore, they said pack your bags, drive to the airport and the rest will be taken care, even wheelchairs! mmmm....maybe what do you think?
Hello Danielle, Cheryl Anna and everyone I missed
    Have a great Tuesday
    .
  • Terry0773
Morning. The stamps I've been waiting for came yesterday so I'm on a roll now with finishing up this one design of xmas cards. So far I have 20 cards made, 6 are in production, and that leaves 10-12 more to do before I'm done. It would seriously be less expensive if I just went out and bought 2 boxes of them. but not near as much fun!

Anna: how long until you get the tee shirt back for Bucky? I'd love to see a photo of it!
Cathe: I have a big closet and I tried to organize it when we moved in. Problem is I hate throwing out clothes even if they don't fit. I'm an unabashed clothes hoarder--I confess! I do have a pile of stuff that needs transported to Good Will soon! I'm so glad that your surgery is a done & home one. I feel soooo much better when I get to go home! That's very sweet that Doug is going to help you with your painting & sanding.
Denise: That is an excellent idea to go to a hotel and get brochures. I have Pam & Sherree coming with their hubbies on Oct 22nd. The guys will all go dog training (they are headed to the National event on the 25th). I've been racking my brain about where to take the girls and that may just solve my problem! I don't think shopping is the answer. On the mineral sample you posted today (gray puffy cloud like clusters) there was a couple very shiny spots. What were they? A mica of some sort?
Jane: I love the sentiment!! The other night Steve was trying to convince me to go out training with him and to meet this one guy's wife. Thru the conversation he spouted something about me not having any friends here to do things with. I told him I was perfectly happy doing what I do every day and if I needed friends I would call them or go on here and chat. And BTW what business is it of his? So your quote really hit home for me! I love being on here to chat and catch up. If I want to talk, I'll pick up the phone! No we haven't settled the fountain yet. It came yesterday & is sitting in the box which is almost 5 ft tall, in front of the laundry room door.
Linda: I'm sorry no one took pictures to share with you. My son started doing that with his 2 kids in MN. I was mad and extremely hurt because to me he was saying you can't share in their growing up. That's why I stopped scrapbooking for years. Hope you lget all your things put up

sorry gotta go as I'm being summoned
  • Rockmom
No plans yet. I do want to take Tim to those 2 museums I mentioned. There are several one I want to see too that he'd like. The problem is mom. I can't leave her alone and she doesn't like to get out of the car. Maybe if I took her wheelchair she would. Also they're across the state abd world require an overnight. Then I'd have to take all her stuff ...the big oxygen generator, the small one for the car, the electric blanket, her special pillows, her depends, her clothes, her meds, her crochet, her walker for night-time use ...it's alot. Then there is my stuff and Tim's stuff. It makes it all a big chore. Tim uses a cane and can't carry much so its left on me to do and it's just gotten to be too much. So I would have to plan it when Katie is home - which is hard she works and the kids have stuff on the weekend that she takes them to. Then mom would be upset we went without her. It's just easier to not do an overnight right now.

I'm using most of the brochures to make examples of notebook pages for my Texas History curriculum and/or my TX History scrapbook. I'll show you when I get some made.

I'm doing laundry, washed all the big metal cups that we all use that can't go in the dishwasher, taught the kids, and cooked lunch. Now I'm going to go put the leftovers away and work on my scrapbook and the curriculum pages.

Oh Terry, its cheaper to buy them but not nearly as fun! That's for sure! It's therapy, it a creative outlet, and it's enjoyment, well worth the money.
  • Rockmom
I put a page in my gallery. I didn't use brochures on this one.

Ugh I couldn't get it to link sorry
  • Scrappin 2
    Tuesday

Denise- So glad you have a new page in your gallery. The print is too little to read-I tried. I really like that you have a passion for recording this piece of history. I do remember Laughter is the Best medicine. Is Reader's Digest still published? It was such a nice size.

Linda- seems like you just put up the chimes! LOL Time flies.
If someone set me up on a trip I'd be out of here. I'm not good at planning. But I'd be happy to go almost anywhere.

I met my cousin for lunch. She and her DH do such fun things....just short trips, but I don't think Rum would like doing that. They also went by train to Seattle, met up with some of our relatives and flew home.........all that planning! ugh. LOL

Terry- I don't know your friends so don't know if they'd like this but.....One thing we did our first time down there was to go to a free museum about the Samuri. It was above an restaurant which was kind of weird, but it was really interesting. ...and did I mention free? I did layouts for the kids on it. If our galleries were still in order I could find them.

A week from today, at his time surgery will be over, I will probably be in so much pain I won't be in.
  • Rockmom
Terry those shiny bits are reflections off the crystal faces.

Linda, it's finally getting nice enough to sit on the front porch after dinner. Yeh, summer is over up there. It's not real hot here, right at 90 or so.

    Cathe I'm praying for ya!

Sorry the print is too small to read.
