Very nice Norma, you make such lovely cards.
Now that it is the end of a hot summer, fall is headed our way. The temps are perfect for me and I went outside and did some yard " pick-up". I cut bushes, dug up glad bulbs, the lights and the lighthouse. Sad to do this but working alone I can't wait until the last minute. I'm anxious to get started on cards as I'm going to make Halloween cards, to try and get a jump on some Christmas cards🙄. Seems overwhelming!
  • Njr007
    Good morning!

So sorry for the late start. Our internet was out this morning and I noticed when I opened my laptop, it was on the sb.com page with yesterday's message on it. I forgot to push submit eyeroll emoji Sometimes I wonder how I make it through the day....

Congrats to Lorna for being the completed all 5 sketches winner for August.

Yesterday was a whirlwind. Laura came over for a late breakfast and while she and her dad went to a gem and rock show I cleaned house, made a cake and a side dish for dinner. Everyone came over around 3p and we played board games as the pool party was canceled due to the rain. After dinner we played a card game til around 10 before everyone headed home. My girl seemed to have a really good day which made me happy-she need a good day.

Linda as you can see I have started on my Christmas cards. I realized a couple of months ago I was so far behind and decided to make a Christmas card out of whatever sketches I picked. My stash is finally starting to grow.

I walked into my scrap room and it looks like a tornado came through, so I will start trying to make some sense of this mess. Wish me luck-cleaning always puts me in the "squirrel" mindset as I get distracted when I find something interesting.

I hope you all have a great day

    Good morning ya'll
Norma as usual, you have great sketch picks. And let's discuss the amazing job you do on samples to get us started. Wow!
I need to grab a bite to eat and get in my disaster of a craftroom and make some cards. I too have decided that I need to get my Christmas cards started.

  • Sewflake
    Barely any morning left here.
While I got all, but one sketch finish last month, I failed to post the last two I had done.
Maybe this month I will do better with all the lovely sketches!
  • Scrapperb2
    Congrats Lorna
  • Rolbricht
    Congrats Lorna!

Thanks Norma, for hosting this fun challenge for all of us. I just never got around to making that last card for August but at least I played--nerd emojiRo
  • Debbie.K
    Congrats Lorna,

I'm here and ready to go. I'm going to put my Halloween cards aside for now and try making a few cards. It may not be today though. I'm wanting to set up my fall decor in my living room. That always takes time because you have to dust and pick up first.

Norma, love how you did two cards for the sketches. It shows two different directions you can go with these sketches. You are a rockin' hostess.
  • Debbie.K
I'm organizing my Halloween cards and addressing those I've made so far but it would seem I'm missing some address's. If the following people are wanting a Julie Nutting Halloween card from me can you please DM me your address: Kathy M...Adel...Amanda. I think I have everyone else. Most of you are already on Norma's address list. If you are not on the address list and is part of this challenge it wouldn't hurt to DM your address also. Thanks ladies.
  • Eapipkin
Wow, Norma! You never cease to amaze me with your sketch samples. They're awesome!
  • Sewflake
Lorna, congratulations on completing all five. A double win.
  • Kimberly Scraps
Norma these are fabulous as always!
  • Kimberly Scraps
Here is my take on #4 (just horizontal)
  • AdeleR
Great sketches and examples, will see if I need to make something this month. (I thought I'd missed this one but fortunately I thought to look under Papercrafting).
  • Lorna Lee
  • Debbie.K
I have no idea which sketch this should go towards. It started as sketch five but I didn't like where it was going so when I noticed the trees I decided to go with sketch two. Now that it's done it doesn't look like it goes anywhere. Norma, if the trees work with the three candles let's go with two, if not, go with five. lol I'll try again tomorrow.

  • Lorna Lee
I spent most of the day in my craftroom. I made a few cards and worked on some Christmas gifts. As I allowed something to dry, I worked on something else. What a mess in that room. If I had a week off. I would really get things completed. LOL
Never got to cleaning house this weekend. With 10 hour work days this week, I am not going to get much time to clean house.
I need to put my JN Doll on a card too. She is sitting ready to be a fixed. I finally decided what I wanted to do.
I better get to sleep now.
    Have a blessed night 🌙

Kimberly thanks for getting us started ) emoji

Lorna so happy you found time in your craft space.

Debbie I saw Sketch 5 on you sweet card so that is where I added it grin emoji

I am glad everyone is happy with the sketches-I have a hard time finding something that looks different, but not difficult!

Today is laundry day and I have a doctors appointment this afternoon and then tonight we continue to celebrate my daughters birthday as we are meeting up with my FIL so he can celebrate her. It will be a full busy day.

    Have a good one

    Norma

I managed to get Sketch three done before needing to head out to a doctor appointment.

Norma, sketch five works for me. That's where I started off with the card. Thanks.

  • Sewflake

    Sketch #5
And thanking Debbie for the idea of Maremi book images. 🤗

  • Karen_S
Great sketches and loving the cards that have already been done. I hope that I'm able to get some made this month.

We will no longer be empty nesters as one of our daughters will be moving in with us for a time.

At work we just went to being open from 9-9, still seven days a week, with a small work force. Hopefully they will hire some seasonal worker, but we shall see. I worked 13 hours yesterday. We were busy because everything was 40% for our Labor Day sale. With such a small work force, it is hard to get all of the product received in and put out on the floor. Today we got 4 skids and we still have 4 or 5 upstairs with more to come.
  • Eapipkin
    Beautiful cards made, Ladies!!

Karen, where do you work? That is a long day!!
  • Cdjohnson
I hope to join in this month. Now that mowing and outside work is completed I should have time to come be more creative.
  • Kimberly Scraps
Oh you guys are stressing me out on the Christmas cards...I really need to get a jump on that. OK, the rest of my cards for this challenge is going to be Christmas themed or someone isn't getting a Christmas card this year scream emoji

    Hi all,
Here are my cards for sketch #2

  • Debbie.K
Everyone has been very busy with their cards. So many beautiful creations. It took me awhile to go through everyone's gallery to leave some sugar. Hope everyone is having a blessed day. We are back in the 80's today but then back to 70 tomorrow. No wonder my sinus's are a mess. It's like just pick a degree and stay put.
  • Lorna Lee
    Good morning
We have a high expected of 102 degrees today.
Work day busy busy. 10 hrs day.
    Have a blessed day ya'll

    Hi!
Still need to get ACU, will do it on the big computer this afternoon.

My new doctor put me on a muscle relaxer and I am having a hard time shaking off the effect. I was foggy headed for more than an hour this morning. Will try again tonight and if it remains that way I will ask her to either drop the dose or use a different medicine.

I hope to get to my room later this afternoon.
  • Scrapperb2
Another stressful morning, as it seems I'm having plenty of them lately. I went and got my hair cut today, looks nice. Then I had to go get more chest x-rays, why I don't know as I had them completed at CMC with my MRI. Waste money. I went outside and finished cleaning the lawn ornaments and bubble wrapped them and put into bins. Wouldn't you know it!! a thunderstorm, had to go in, thank goodness I was finished.
Made two Halloween cards, #2 & 3, need to post them. I like all of the cards being posted, and I agree with starting to make Christmas cards--Yikes. My roll of 100 stamps came in yesterday, that's a good thing.
Niorma...ooooh I hate pills that make me feel funky. Hope it gets better soon.
Karen....working long hours isn't good. I understand though, at one stretch I worked 18 days in a row 8+ hours a day. I don't think that was legal, but the money was great.
Hello everyone....I hear my patient calling me from the LR, I hear fine but not that muffled sound
  • Karen_S
@Eapipkin I work at The Incredible Christmas Place. Not the one in Pigeon Forge, but the one in the Nashville area.

Sharon yes and no. I went to a specialist because of chronic pain and bloodwork showed markers for autoimmune disease. After a complete exam she is pretty much ruling out autoimmune and believes it is weakness in my muscles that is causing the problems, She ran more blood work . But mainly she wants me off of Tylenol PM and Tylenol Arthritis I take every night to help me sleep through the night-otherwise my shoulder, lower back and leg pain wakes me up at 4-5am. She said too much Tylenol! So she prescribed a muscle relaxer ( not addictive) that will also will help me sleep-it's just helping a little more than I want. I have sent her a message through the portal and hopefully will hear from her later or tomorrow.

Karen, I hope things are ok with your daughter-- blush emojiRo

    Hi all,
    Love everyone's cards!
Elizabeth - You work at a Christmas shop? Wow, I would be tempted to buy all the glass ornaments. I bet it's a beautiful place to work at.

Norma, I'm sorry that you are dealing with pain. I hope that the doctor can figure things out and get you what you need.

Sharon, I love your cards. They are always so beautiful. Love the techniques you use.

Karen, I agree with Linda. I think we've all worked those kinds of hours. It's hard to recover quickly from those.

    Linda, Sending hugs your way.

Hello, ladies! I am back. Our anniversary celebration is over. The thank you cards are made, written out, and mailed. We ended up having our 50th celebration at my family Yelton Reunion on Labor Day.

Lorna, congratulations on being the monthly winner.

Kathy, I hope they hire some more help for the store. I am sure the business will just continue to get busier as the holiday gets closer. Long work hours make a person super tired.

Norma, I hope the doctor finds something that works for you. Has your doctor mentioned fibromialgia? Hope you get some relief. Thank you for hosting this challenge. Your inspirational card samples are always wonderful.

All the cards already posted are terrific. I will get back to dropping into your galleries soon. Look forward to all the cards this month.

Ro, my daughter got her associates degree last year and has been working. She is tired of Idaho and all the snow. So, she is going to live with us while she goes back to school, online, to save money and to figure out where she wants to live next. We've told our kids that we are willing to help, but that they need to have a plan.
  • Eapipkin
No, Lis, not I. It is Karen that works at a Christmas shop. I am retired.
  • RachelUK
Good morning from a very wet and raining UK. After more than 2 months of hot summer days - which we are totally unused to - the ground is finally getting water again and boy does it need it! The children all went back to school today and my child minding days are my own again - yay! Both my granddaughters who live nearby have made holiday scrapbooks - lots of photos and tickets and WRITING (sometimes they had to be bribed to do those bits!) so I was very involved with printing pictures, getting album page protectors (I used the SNAP albums by Simple Stories) and lots of printing on my Selphy as well as sending off for free prints, and just generally encouraging them.

My oldest granddaughter is 10, and has been making an album every year since she was in Reception, so she loves looking back at her previous ones, and seeing how she and her sister (and her cousins) have changed in those years. Its definitely worth the effort her dear old grandmama needs to put in, but it does mess up my cardmaking and scrapbooking time!

So I haven't created a single card in July or August - but I will definitely get them all done in September!!
  • Njr007
    Good morning, I an ACU.

Hi Lis (n2cats) you are on a roll, wonderful cards!

Rachel how wonderful you have shared your love for scrapping with your granddaughters and I am happy you will get some me time and get to create for yourself this month.

Karen both of my daughters have come home after they graduated college for one reason or another. I always welcomed them home with open arms as they prepared for the next chapter in their lives. I remember after my divorce I came home with two littles in tow and my parents were a huge help to me while I worked and saved to buy my first home. I could not have done it without them. And I've told DH as long as I am able to help them, I will.

Sara I asked about fibromyalgia but not all of my symptoms are matching up, plus the pain is localized and not widespread. She believes it was to do with weak back muscles and ran some more blood tests. She also gave me some exercises to do and told me to start taking magnesium and B12. I see her again in 6 weeks which doesn't make sense to me since she said I would not see improvement for 2-3 months. I did like her though. She asked questions and listened and took her time with me.

My FIL has an appointment this afternoon so I need to block out 3 hours for him. He is seeing his lung doctor and I have a number of questions for her as DH took him last time and FIL talked her into giving him another medicine-which is not helping and actually causing some side effects. He has a chronic lung disease and is getting medicine so that it does not worsen but he keeps asking for something that will cure him. A cure is currently not available but he is willing to be a guinea pig and take whatever medicine the online kooks are telling him will cure him. I have convinced him to not buy anything online and to always ask Dr.V about the medicine before taking anything new.

Off to walk Roxy and get my day started

    Norma
