I'm here and the place is looking good. I see we have some major construction going on here and the workers are looking mighty fine. I'm thinking to stop by every day just so I can keep an eye on the scenery that is taking down our wall. Hey, someone has to keep an eye on things. Dawna, those are some grand ideas. I love the BYOB instead of dealing with a liquor license and a little bakery area would be fantastic. We could each bake a little something to add to it. Who are the bakers in the cafe? Maybe you could bake more than usual since I'm not a big baker that way you cover my lack of cooking. LOL Oh, and I need that handrail also. I can't get up steps so I need something to use to pull myself up. No handrail, no service. Maybe while the construction workers are here they can just add a small ramp. That way I can use my walker on a bad day. As far as the sign goes, I'm fine with what we have. I consider it vintage since this cafe has been open for a very long time. And even tho I have a kindle now, I do love to hold a good book. Something about the smell of books that calm me. Just a thought but maybe a couple of recliners also. Wouldn't hurt to make them lift chairs since there are a lot of us elderly's here. lol If I think of anything else to add to the place, I'll be sure to note them down. I'd kinda like to keep the "scenery" around for as long as possible. stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye emoji

Tena, I love the idea of adding some specialty teas. I love a good tea in the evenings. We need to add decaf to those teas because that's what I drink in the evening. I'll be sure to pop in here at night to relax with a good cup of hot tea.

Kimberly, I want to be your neighbor. I'm not a drinker but I love Baileys. It's a great sipper drink. I just gave my neighbors a card. Maybe next year I'll give it a bit more thought and try to put together a cute package like you did.

Erin, you have been a really busy scrapper. So many beautiful projects. I'm in awe.

Looks like I am the first to pop in. I'm just going to settle with my kindle and work on my coffee.

    Good Morning!

I had a great day with my DD Jessica yesterday. She found a nice outfit to wear to today's wedding and we enjoyed our lunch at Olive Garden. It made for a fun mother/daughter day. So today is my DGS's Skyler and his GF Luna's wedding, yay! I am so excited for them. Yesterday my DD Jenni sent me a video of my DGD Quinn and her partner April exchanging their wedding vows last Friday. Of course I got all teary deary just watching it. I've never seen Quinn so happy, it did my heart good. Then Luna shared her wedding vows with my DD Jessica, and Jessica got teary deary too. I'd better pack some Kleenex, sounds like I'm going to need it today. Still no baby news yet, but that bun in the oven should be done any minute! I can not wait to meet little Nolan!

Time for some toast and juice, enjoy the day everyone!
  • Dawna.s Place
Morning Debbie, we of course are typing at the same time! Some things are never going to change! lol A ramp is a much better plan than a stoop. I like it!
  • Kimberly Scraps
The new Cafe' is looking good Dawna! I think I will pop by and keep Debbie company, you know, scenery and all grin emoji I too would prefer hard cover books...I've never gotten into a kindle or anything like that. Something about holding a hardcover, old books just makes me feel smarter joy emoji I think a brick fireplace is in order since so many of us get the chills these days...and def BYOB will do the trick! As long as the chairs are comfy, the coffee and hot cocoa are flowing with some Frangelico, Kahlua and baileys will work for me hug emoji
    Hope all are doing well...
    Kimberly

  • Erin Perry
Well the cafe is shaping up! I would love a mini fridge for my wine and a bar would be great. I am all for hand railings! Don't need to bounce off the pavement anymore. Been there, done that, and have the scars to prove it! The addition of a hot tub out back might be something to consider also. Good for stress relief after a day of crafting. I am a baker so Deb I will do double duty to cover for you. And I do hope Dawna paid particular attention to the physical attributes of the construction workers fixing up the cafe. You are right - we may be old but we're not blind!

Have fun at the wedding today Dawna! And congrats to Quinn and April. Where are they going to be living since she is from the UK?
  • Eapipkin
LOL. You gals are cracking me up. Some great ideas for the new Café.

Have fun at the wedding today, Dawna!
  • Dawna.s Place
OMG I had too much fun making my last Cafe' post! Hahahaha...you gals are are cracking me up! I'm starting to think we are a bit NEEDY around here! Yep, we NEED some good looking eye candy around here! One safety ramp, a fireplace and a hot tub coming up! Kimberly welcome to the book club! Erin can you whip us up some pastries? Hahahahaha....
  • Tena E.
Hello ladies, it's so good to be in our newly renovated Café. I'm enjoying my second cup of Zest tea grin emoji

Dawna, I really enjoyed reading your post this morning and could actually visualize us all sitting there having fun...the only thing that's missing is back room for crafting but I guess that's on our future list LOL. So glad Jessica found an outfit for the wedding, I know it's going to be a special day for your family, cherish all the happy memories! Congrats to Quinn and April too!

I'm off to spend some time with my sister, niece and the kiddos...she's doing so much better after her surgery.

Enjoy your day ladies...and the new café.
  • Njr007
    Hi everyone!

Dawna thanks for the link to the renovated Cafe, I appreciate you keeping it open.

I have followed some of the chatter over the last month but have been busy with my FIL and my daughters new home and sending out Christmas cards and getting the house decorated for Christmas and getting shopping done and now trying to gift wrap. Plus I have spent the last week with a nasty cold. Still not 100% but feeling so much better. And I gave myself more work as I decided to host a white elephant party next Sunday. Busy busy, but grateful I have the ability and strength to get it all done.

Dawna looking forward to hearing about todays wedding.

I hope to be more active here this year, trying my best ) emoji

    Hiya!

I'm taking a break from gluten free baking to get ready for NYC. I told Christina I'm going to be a bag lady, I need a bigger bag. The overnight doesn't fit a week, especially for someone with celiac disease. Ugh.
  • Debbie.K
Morning all. I have to say I like the idea of a back room craft area. I think if we all pull together some money we can add on to the storage room to fit a crafty space. Plus that'll give us a reason to keep the construction crew around a little longer. Did y'all notice the guy in the ripped jeans the other day. I may of hung out in the cafe a little longer than normal so I could keep an eye on him.

No time to make a long post today. I need to jump in the shower to get ready for my appointment. I'm having a chest Xray done today. I talked my doctor into doing it to make sure I don't have lung cancer. I keep seeing these commercials that if you are a smoker or a former smoker you should get screened for lung cancer. I quit smoking 30 years ago so since I'm a former smoker I don't want to take a chance. Since my friend died of lung cancer it's now on my mind and by the time you know you have lung cancer, you're already in stage 4. If it's coming I'd like to catch it early and at least have a chance. I barely made the requirements for it because I didn't smoke a pack a day, unless of course I was drinking but she found other reasons to have it done. It'll give me peace of mind.

Ok, off I go. Enjoy your day everyone.
  • Dawna.s Place
    Good Morning,

I see everyone is finding there way to the new and improved Cafe'. I have a very good feeling about the coming New Year. I believe it's going to be a good one for everyone who gathers here! It's chilly in here this morning, so I'm going to put a log on! lol

Kimberly you're too funny! I'm delighted that you and Debbie are taking in the marvelous scenery!

Erin you bet ya I noticed all those muscles! Geez by the afternoon our construction workers had their shirts off! Lordy, be still my heart! lol Since April is from the UK, Quinn has decided to move to the UK come February so they can be together. Of course my DD Jenni is brokenhearted over that decision, but I tried to encourage her with the notion now we need to plan a European vacation so Quinn and April can show us all the lovely sites. She worries that if things don't work out with them, she's afraid Quinn will be stuck there without any support system. I had to remind her that Quinn is only a plane ticket away. I think she's just feeling a bit overwhelmed that things are moving a bit to fast for her mama heart to adjust.

Elizabeth, thank you. It's was quite the joyous day for my family.

Tena thank you so much, it's been a very blessed week for my family. So glad you enjoyed my last Cafe' post, it was easy visualizing all of gathered with our creature comforts. But, I'm afraid we've blown all our entire reno budget, so maybe next year we can add a craftroom! lol So glad to hear that your sister is doing so well after her surgery. What a relief.

Norma so glad to hear that you are you are busy, but doing well. Getting 'all the things' done for the holidays is a mountain of work, but so worth all the effort. At our age, life is all about making those wonderful memories with friends and family. We look forward to regular visits from you in the coming year. Have a grand time at your White Elephant party!

Jessica have fun on your trip to NYC this week. I'm sure the city will be aglow with all the holiday decorations and busy shoppers. Be safe out there and enjoy your trip!

Debbie I'm very glad to hear that your having your Dr. do an Xray of your lungs today. I do hope you get the all clear signal from your Dr. How long will it take before you know the results? Gosh, I hate waiting for test results. My DH and I see our new Dr. today. At my last check up, my Dr. heard some noise in my right lung. I do hope that it doesn't amount anything.

Yesterdays wedding was just amazing. The ceremony was held at the Oak Glen Nature Preserve and what a beautiful location to tie the knot. We were all ankle deep in all the fall oak leaves, but it was sunny and no wind, just a gorgeous day for a wedding. Luna's dad built a beautiful wedding arbor and it was draped with a lovely flowy fabric and decorated with vines and flowers. Luna's mom is an amateur photographer, so she took all the pictures. Skyler looked so handsome in his wedding suit and Luna made a stunning bride. Cade did a wonderful job officiating the ceremony and Skyler and Luna wrote their own wedding vows. Geez, it's a good thing I brought tissues, because I don't think there was a dry eye in the house. What a joyful day for everyone. We met Jessica at her house so we could caravan to the wedding together, and Anika had starting having labor pains yesterday morning. I'm anxious to find out today if little Nolan made his appearance yet. My heart is so full, my cup runneth over. Enjoy the day everyone. BBL...
  • Erin Perry
Dawna- so glad the wedding was fun. And hopefully a new baby today! Poor Jenni - the Uk is a ways away!
Well I guess it was just a matter of time but I am now down with the crud. Lacey spent the night in the guest room with me last night while I was having coughing fits. Running a fever this morning. All our cold meds have expired so my friend will make a stop at the grocery after her doctors appointment this morning. And the miracle - Al is feeling the best he has felt today so he was able to fix my breakfast and has sent me to bed for the day to rest. Change of roles around here!
  • Eapipkin
So glad the wedding turned out lovely, Dawna! That's wonderful! Bet your anxious to see the new baby that's coming. I hope all goes well for Anika.

Sorry to hear you've got the crud, Erin. That's no fun, but it is sure nice that Al feels good enough to care for you.

Debbie, I hope the xray comes out clear.

It is snowing like crazy out there! My Kenneth is out riding the big tractor blowing the snow! His neck and back has been so bad I'm surprised that he's doing it.

    Have a good day, everyone!
  • Tena E.
    Happy Monday everyone,
Dawna, happy to hear that the wedding ceremony was beautiful and that the weather was nice for it too, sounds a lot like my niece's wedding, they also had an outdoor ceremony. I'm not on Facebook but hope you'll post some pics here when you get a chance. I hope Anika is doing well and that the baby comes soon, so many blessings for your family this month. Sorry your daughter is sad that Quinn will be moving to the UK, I'm sure she will be well taken care of...and like you said, it's a great time to start planning a trip. I'm sure it will all work out.

Debbie, hope your x-ray results are fine, it's great that you're staying on top of these things. My hubby was a smoker, he quit about 30 years ago too.

Erin, hope you start to feel better soon and I'm so happy that this is a good day for your DH. You do so much for everyone, I'm sure it feels good to have someone take care of you too.

Elizabeth, the only thing I love about snow is how pretty it is when it's falling...other than that I want no parts of it LOL. I don't miss it one bit, hope your hubby is okay too.

Enjoy the rest of your day ladies!
  • Dawna.s Place
    Good Morning,

Thanks for all the well wishes, but no baby as of late yesterday afternoon. I talked with Anika and she is having intermittent labor pains, but nothing steady yet. Since her time is so near, I asked if she was doing anything to try and induce labor. She told me she tried the pineapple juice trick, but it wasn't working. I'd never heard of that trick before, so I shared the spicy food trick with her. So she was going to try that for dinner last night. I'll find out later on this morning, if Nolan arrived in the night or not. Fingers crossed! I spent the day recuperating a bit from the busy week and putzed around wrapping gifts.

Debbie how did your Dr.'s visit go yesterday? Any idea when you will get the results?

Erin oh no, not the crud! I'm so glad that Al is feeling well enough to take care of you. That's great news. I hope he continues to improve and that you start feeling better real soon.

Elizabeth thanks it was a lovely wedding. Snow, burrrrrrrrrrr! Still not a drop of rain in our forecast.

Tena it really has been a month full of blessings for my family. I'm sure Jenni will be fine too. Her mama heart just needs time to adjust as everything moved pretty fast with the girls. With video calling, I'm sure Quinn and April will stay in regular touch with her, especially since Jenni has now met April. And I'm sure they would be thrilled to show us around when we plan a UK trip. I'll enjoy planning that vacation.

Deanna I received your lovely Christmas card, thank you so much!

Today is all about gift wrapping. I'm feeling good this morning, well rested, so I hope I can make a dent in those piles today. I'd really would like to finish up wrapping before the weekend, so I can relax a couple of days before our Christmas Eve Party next Tuesday. Can you believe that Christmas is just one week away? I am so looking forward to this Christmas with Aubrey. Time to make the rounds, enjoy the day everyone!

PS: Here's a pic of Quinn (she's the short one) and April. Quinn looks so happy! And April is actually stooping down to hug her, as Quinn hits April just below her shoulders. They both look so happy together.

PSS: I'll share a wedding photo of Sky and Luna when I get them downloaded to my desktop pc.

Dawna, thank you for the pretty Christmas card and thoughtful sentiment. I appreciate it.

Your so welcome Elizabeth! Are you knee deep in snow this morning?

For those of you who are not of FB, here's a pic of my DGS Cade and his GF Irene with their cute gingerbread houses. Still trying to get Skyler's wedding pics off my phone.

No, the snow has partially melted. It is supposed to snow again today but we'll see. The weather forecasters don't know what they are doing. I think they rely on their stupid computers or are lumping us in with Spokane, which is ridiculous.
  • Dawna.s Place
Elizabeth, my weather forecast comes out of the city 20 minutes away from me, and its never accurate either. So frustrating. I get a better weather report, by just stepping outside! lol

Here's a pic of Skyler and Luna at the wedding. There are so many great pics, I had a hard time finding a fav. A task for another day! lol

Dawna, hopefully they'll be finished installing our new window today so it should warm up in here a bit. Deanna, sorry you need a personal heater. Y'all know I can't handle it too hot in here so I appreciate you not turning the heat up too high in the winter. Thanks for sharing your pictures. They are all so beautiful.

Erin, so sorry you are not feeling well. Hopefully it'll be a short virus. Glad to hear hubby is feeling well enough to take care of you for a change. Get rest so that you're ready for Christmas. Oh, and did you happen to receive my card? I sent everyone's out at the same time on Dec 1st and there are still so many people that haven't received. I'm going to have to think of a way to make my cards even flatter. I swear the PO is messing with my card making style.

Elizabeth, so sorry to hear about Kenneth's neck. I hope he doesn't injure it more riding the tractor.

My chest scan came through my My Chart already and everything is good. Lungs are totally clear and look good. Thank goodness I stopped smoking ages ago before I caused any major damage. My doctor also already commented on it so she looked at the results. I've been checking the area for a new doctor and found a few geriatric doctors that have great ratings and are in my area so I don't have to drive far. I'll wait until it's time for my next well check and then switch. I'm afraid that insurance may not pay so soon for another new doctor.

I received cards from Terry, Linda and Erin so far yesterday and can you believe there wasn't any cards in todays mail.

Off to get a few things done. I've been sitting at this computer since seven o'clock and I'm not getting anywhere. I'm bouncing all over the place while I type this so it takes awhile before I finally post it.
  • Erin Perry
Deb - yes I reciyour card - thank you!
  • Tena E.
Dawna, thanks so much for sharing the photos...they all make such cute couples and look really happy together. Luna was a beautiful bride, love the dress color and the bouquet. You have a beautiful family. Hope Anika's doing well and baby Nolan arrives very soon.

    Erin, hope you're feel much better today :}

Debbie, glad to hear that your chest scans are clear.

I'm hoping to get some wrapping done today too for my grandniece & nephews gifts. My sister birthday is on the 21st so I have her gift to wrap as well but think I'll just use a pretty bag and tissue paper. Okay, off to get something done.

    Enjoy your day everyone!
  • Dawna.s Place
Debbie that is such good news, to get the all clear! Yay! What a relief that must be. BTW, I got your card also, it's lovely, thank you so much.

Kristine Happy 'Belated' Birthday! Did you have fun yesterday?

Tena this is the only pic I got of the broom and wanted you to see how great it came out. Luna did a great job with it, she's very creative and her and Skyler love crafting with me.

Thanks Dawna, it turned out fabulous...I really love the colors!
  • Dawna.s Place
Tena OMW WE were typing at this same time this morning! It's Debbie's fault, she's a bad influence on me! LOL Sorry Deb, just couldn't resist. Thank you all so much for sweet comments on my pics and family. I am surely blessed. We're not too big (we're growing) but all very close. I really love Erin's bible groups mantra, it's about connection, not perfection! Never more true than during the holidays.
  • Eapipkin
Well, it's snowing right down here!! Kenneth and I went to town this morning. I drove. By the time we came home it was snowing right down. He's out on the tractor blowing snow. He doesn't want me to go out to my Craft Palace so I guess I won't be getting anything done. Dang it!
  • Kimberly Scraps
I just got cards from Terry and Erin! Thank you ladies...the Spirit of Christmas is starting to reach me...lol, I feel like the grinch this year.

Elizabeth I hope you aren't going to be snowed in!

    Dawna, the broom looks amazing!

Debbie, so glad to hear you are clear! God is GOOD!

Tena, what a beautiful day today was!

I had a doc apt today, it wasn't horrible as far as docs go and the NP actually made me feel heard...I told her I was diagnosed with chronic pain syndrome and she actually said that that is a REAL diagnosis and no matter how many blood tests you run everything will look normal but you are still in pain. Boy did she say some real words! LOLLLL, I had to go into the hospital for bloodwork and I REALLY must have looked bad bc a man with 3 very small children came up to me and asked if I needed a wheelchair...I WANTED TO JUST DIE! I politely declined and thanked him and tried to shuffle off as fast as my body would move, but the snail I was raising beat me to the door joy emoji OMG if I don't laugh at my life I would cry all day long! I do have a great life, I really need to appreciate it more but when you are in pain 24/7 it really is hard to see the rays of sunshine some times... stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes emoji
  • Dawna.s Place
    Good Morning,

Still no baby news yet. Ugh, little Noland is sure taking his sweet time getting here! I spent the day wrapping and put a huge dent in my gift piles, but still quite a bit more to go. That made me feel good, but my office area looks like a cyclone hit it with my wrapping table and all the wrapping goodies everywhere. My housekeeper is coming today, so I need to pick up around here before she gets here. Otherwise she's going to think I'm a messy slob! lol

Elizabeth how much snow did you wind up getting yesterday? So sorry you couldn't get to your Craft Palace, but you sure don't want to be out in that kind of weather.

Kimberly thanks, the broom really turned out pretty. Luna's mom took a bunch of pictures, but of course they all need to be edited before she can share them with us. I believe she got pictures of them jumping the broom. I can't wait to see all her pics. Yes, absolutely, Chronic Pain Syndrome (CPS) is a REAL THING! So glad you got the care you deserved at yesterday's appointment. It's about time! I hope you can see this PA in the future as she really does understand CPS. It used to kill me if I complained about being in pain, and people would say "but you look just fine!" Ugh!!! Seriously??? Drove me crazy! Be kind to yourself today! hug emoji

Going to continue wrapping today. If I can keep up this pace, I should finish up by tomorrow. Then I can think about making some candy and cookies for my party next week. Can you believe that there are only 7 more sleeps until Christmas? What happened to this month? I feel like we lost a week with Thanksgiving being so late in November as I thought that we normally have a 5 week month in the Nov/Dec time frame. But, not this year. Oh well, it's going to be here soon enough. Time to make the rounds, enjoy the day everyone!
  • Debbie.K
Dawna, your wrapping sounds like my sister and the amount of gifts she buys for her kids still and all the grandkids. Only difference is she has me to help. I helped her wrap all her gifts a few years back so now it's become another one of those traditions. She sent me a text yesterday to let me know it's that time a year again and she needs help. I'm heading over to her house today around noon to help her wrap up all her gifts. My other sister is coming also but she'll most likely just supervise. lol She's not a gift wrapping fan. Dawna, the broom turned out amazing. I'd be hanging that broom up on my front door. It would be symbolic of everyone having to pass through the broom to come inside. lol

Kimberly, I sure understand 24/7 pain but mine could be fixed if they'd stop discriminating against fat people and just fix it. I need two knee replacements and shoulder surgery. When the last doctor looked at my XRays she was like, You must be really hurting. There is so much arthritis around your knees because of the trauma. DUH, I know. I feel it every day. The pain keeps me up at night. Pain is just going to be my lot in life cause the weight is determined to stay put. I'm glad you found a doctor that gets it.

Erin, thanks for letting me know that you received. I'm trying to keep track of who hasn't received in case I need to mail out a new card at some point. I want to make sure everyone got one.

I have an orthopedic appointment today. Even though I know he can't fix my knees I want him to take another look at my right knee. I really think I did some extra damage to it during my fall. The whole right side of my knee is numb to the touch and every now and then I get a sharp electrical shock going down my lower leg. Something has got to give here. And from there I am off to my sisters for pizza and gift wrapping. It's an all day thing because of the amount of gifts she buys. She said that ever since I started doing most of the wrapping her kids have been impressed with how much prettier they are. The first year that I wrapped them her daughter said there is no way you wrapped these gifts. She had to confess that I did the wrapping. Now it's become my thing each year. Enjoy your day ladies.
  • Eapipkin
You gals, I sure hate to hear that you all have so much pain. I know, it is the pits for sure.

Debbie, I am envious that you like to wrap gifts...I don't! I use bags whenever I can!!

Dawna, I don't know for sure how much snow we got but it snowed clear after dark. It rained on top of it which brought the amount down and it is going to be tough to blow it this morning. Will let you know later.
  • Erin Perry
Day 4 of this cold and it is getting old. I don't feel bad - just coughing mostly. The fever has stayed down and my nose quit dripping off of my face. The chaffing on my nostrils is much improved. I am supposed to go downtown for an appointment tomorrow and meet two friends for lunch, do a pickup at the library for DH, and stop at the vet for a pee collection kit. I am hoping to do that but DH is overly concerned about me and thinks maybe I should cancel that and maybe forget about baking Christmas cookies as "you don't want to push yourself and over do it". These words have never come out of his mouth before. Maybe it is because he depends on me as his caregiver and I can't be sick!! He had three pretty good days where he didn't have a lot of hip pain and then this morning boom - it is back again. We just can't figure this out. He did nothing to overdue it. We haven't had Lacey to the park in 4 days because I don't want to be out in the cold at 6:00 a.m.. We are trying to decrease pain meds. He was supposed to schedule a follow up call with the surgeon in a few weeks but he keeps putting that off. I'll probably have to just deal with that too to make sure it happens. He did manage to call the hot tub store and we have a service call for that today. Hoping for a cheap and easy fix. I called the electrician again to go ahead and run new lines from the mailbox to the panel on the side of the house. Light worked for two weeks and then dead. That one is a pricey fix but dang - after 16 years and a new light I want it to work! With all the new lights around here DH insists on keeping a lot of them on overnight and it looks like an airport runway out front! Then after that will be the call to the audio guys about the house speaker system. After that hopefully everything is fixed!
I didn't send a lot of cards this year but yesterday I received four from people I didn't send to so looks like I'll be finishing up my stash and having to make a few more. That is this morning's project. A few may arrive late but oh well. Doing what I can.
OK - off to deal with those cards and then clean up yesterday's crafting mess. It I didn't have this hobby to keep me sane and off the streets I don't know what I'd do!
Oh, an ENABLER ALERT!!! A Cherry on Top has a 20% off everything sale going on now. I had received a gift card so did a little shopping yesterday. Bought enough to qualify for free shipping and used $5 of Cherry points!! Merry Christmas to me! And my Amazon order came yesterday with two wooden appetizer trays I will use for vignettes and some white rice paper! Mod Podge has been calling my name lately.

    Hello ladies,
It is hot here today, this weather is so bi-polar! I never know what to wear so good thing I don't go out much!
Dawna, All of the stuff you need to do I KNOW your clones are back! I really need to borrow one if you don't mind. I know you and Debbie both know pain too well and I do hate that for you. I know we all feel aches and pains when we get older but I'm not even 60 yet! I can't even imagine how I will feel 5 years from now.

Debbie, I think I told you before that my close friend was 400lbs and her knees were gone and no doc would touch her She finally lost enough weight and had both knees done in the same month! She is still on a weight loss journey but she has manage to keep the weight off even though she was laid up for a month after the surgeries. She did have gastric bypass after the first 100lbs bc she just couldn't take any more off herself...actually I think they said she had to lose 100lbs before they would do the bypass surgery. Losing weight is a struggle for sure and I am positive it is one of the hardest things to do in life...
Erin, glad you are feeling better, but maybe DH is right, give it a few more days before running around...being out and about with others that may be carrying a virus or sick themselves could get you even sicker. I do feel for your DH...I really don't understand how we have SO MUCH TECHNOLOGY yet we can't get a proper Diagnosis when it comes to health, especially back issues. SMH!
Elizabeth, how's the weather? I thought about getting a She Shed once to make my scrap room but no way no how I could walk out in the cold to turn on heat to walk back to the house to wait for the heat to heat up the shed...nope and nope! I like my room inside mostly bc I have weird spurts of energy/creative time and some times that at 2am. I think if we still lived in Fl I would have one bc we sure need a guest room in our tiny house. LOL at our age we became selfish and I have an entire bedroom for my scrap room and my husband has an entire bedroom for his gun room, although it does have a bed in there just in case someone comes to see us but they won't stay long bc it is super cramped in that room with the bed. I really want to get rid of it but once a year we have someone pop over for a night stay so I hate to and hubs refuses to put it in the attic bc he will need to bring it back down and at his age he said no, no and no!

Well I am off to try and get one more gift tag made and clean a bit. Have a great day everyone!

Well shoot...I went out to my Craft Palace today only to find out my heater was off due to the power going off yesterday evening for about a minute when we were having a snow storm. It was down to 40 degrees and I wasn't going to stay out there in the cold! So I turned my heater back on and hopefully it will be warm enough to go out there tomorrow or Friday. I usually keep it running about 59 degrees and then turn it up to 69 when I go out there.

I would say we got at least 7-8" of snow before it rained it down.

Kimberly, my Craft Palace is a 19' long trailer from the early 70's. Our house only has 2 bedrooms and they are pretty small. Sam has one of the bedrooms and Kenneth and I have the other one.

    Good Morning!

I just came from the SSS thread and OMW those gals are having too much fun crafting a poem about all our naughty fur babies! I got a great big belly laugh this morning when I checked in. I thought for sure I was going to wake DH up with my morning laughter. For you gals in the Christmas Card Exchange, please feel free to drop by and add a a few verses, we will memorize the poem for use in next years swap! Yep, I've got lots of ideas for it rolling around in my head! Hahahahaha

Debbie like your sister, I buy a ton of gifts for my family also, so LOTS to wrap! I love wrapping too, but I've gotten lazy about it in the past few years. I've been cheating using gift bags instead. lol I have made great headway as I got everyone wrapped up (about 2/3rds done) except for Aubrey and Nolan's gifts. I'll easily finish those up today. Did you and your sister get all done with her wrapping yesterday?

Elizabeth, burrrr....that's a lot of snow! So sorry you have to wait for your Craft Place to warm up, before you can go out there and have a play. Hopefully you can get out there soon.

Erin you are so close to finishing up your construction work, that's awesome. So glad to hear that you are feeling better and that your DH had a few good days. Even if his good days are intermittent, a few good days is better than none at all, at least it's hopeful. Did you get your spa fixed? I pared my cards way back also this year, just not enough time to make and send greetings to everyone I know. Still my card display is full and my house looks so festive!

Kimberly where on earth are all these clones you speak of? If they are around, they must be observing, because they sure haven't jumped in to help me! So, I'm sending their lazy butts your way! Maybe you can charm them into getting something done around your place! lol

Still, no baby news yet. Anika went in for a check up yesterday and the Dr. told her that he will induce labor on the 21st, if she doesn't pop by then. So it looks like we'll be having a Christmas baby after all. Yesterday was gorgeous around here, it was 83 degrees, so I was able to open up the house and let some fresh air in. And, the housekeeper made my place sparkle again, so I'm a happy camper!

Time for more java. Enjoy the day everyone!
  • Debbie.K
Kimberly, have you thought about getting rid of the bed and just keep one of those blow up mattress's that are high like a bed. We had to do that when we lived by the beach in NC because being by the beach brings friends out of the woodwork. If you get a good one, they're actually really comfy.

Elizabeth, if I had to go outside to get into my craft room I'd be moving that palace right up to the front or back door so all I'd have to do is go from one door to the next. LOL

Dawna, there were so many gifts that after four hours of three of us wrapping we were only half done. She still has a ton of gifts left but I couldn't stay any longer. I prefer not to drive in the dark anymore. I can do it if I have to but my eyes are a bit off in the dark. I only do short driving trips close to home.

I have the day to myself today so I'm hoping to get my craft space cleaned up. Things have been gathering and need to be put away. The maybe I'll have room to make a couple of cards.

Heading over to the SSS thread to see what's going on with the fur baby poem.

Hello ladies, popping in to catch up and say hello one last time before the end of the holidays...we will be spending time with family and friends until after Christmas.

Dawna, why yes, yes they did show up and I got a lot of work out of them the last 2 days, I will send them back your way, thanks for lending them to me grimacing_face emoji Has the baby arrived yet? Wouldn't that be extra special if he was born on Christmas day!

Debbie, we do have a blow up mattress, however, ummmm, the only people that really come to see us is my mom and her husband and well he's a bit on the bigger side and they are old and can't do an air mattress and the only others that come see us is my son and his wife and my GD. My son and his wife are well over the bigger side so that would be a no on the air mattress as well. My husband and I had a queen size bed in the "guest" room at one point before we got our new bed and when they came we gave up our Master bedroom and added the air mattress in there for my GD so my son and DIL slept in our king size bed and my GD slept on the air mattress in the Master bedroom and my husband, our dog and me slept on the Queen size bed. That happened for a week twice and now my husband is over it. We bought a new King bed for our room and put the older King bed in the "guest" room and got rid of the queen. So he would DEF NOT be willing for us to be on an air mattress! I think he got over it bc when we go to their house the master bedroom is on the lower level and 4 bedrooms are upstairs and my son nor my DIL were willing to let us stay in their master bedroom downstairs (I mean me and stairs flushed emoji) so it upset my husband to the point he is not willing to give up our master when they come so....we keep the King size bed in the "guest" room...for now wink emoji Did you get your scrap room cleaned? I can ask the clones to make a pit stop over to your house before going back to Dawna's joy emoji

Elizabeth, wowsa 19' trailer I bet you have all kinds of room in there! LOL, I was telling my husband I need a bigger craft room and maybe we could switch our Master with it and I thought his head was going to pop! He told me to stop buying things...like that's a thing laughing emoji
Erin, how are you feeling? I hope you took an extra day before going out and running yourself ragged. How is your husband's pain level?
Tena, our weather is CRAZY stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye emoji The other day it was actually hot outside, then yesterday it was a nice temp and now today it's colder than the dickens! My bird waterer is frozen and Babe refuses to get out of bed LOL!

Well, my doc apt must not have gone as great as I thought in my head. I just read the notes from our visit in MYCHART and she cut and pasted 99.9% of it to reflect that I walk perfect, I passed all the tests, my strength is perfect, I suffer from nothing except for double vision flushed emoji rage emoji flushed emoji angry emoji I was so upset I just started balling for hours and then wrote a scathing email that I didn't send yet bc I need her to FIX my chart before I FIRE her and/or write a formal complaint. I thought I had no faith in our health care system, but I am 100% positive that I have ZERO faith in our healthcare system now. SIGH...

Well my wonderful crafty friends, I am wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and may the New Year be a more JOYFUL, HEALTHIER, RICHER and positive one two_hearts emoji
See you in the New Year!
    Kimberly

Kimberly, totally understand the blow up mattress. I would never put my parents on one. We always gave my parents our room when they came to visit and hubby and I would sleep on the blow up.

It's freezing here today also. We started out with rain but it's turned into a blizzard and I don't see it stopping any time soon. So much for all the plans I had today to pick up some much needed stuff. I don't take chances with walking in the snow so I'm staying nice and warm inside. Tomorrows another day.
  • Eapipkin
Debbie, our property is so uneven there is no way they could get my trailer up here to our house! I'm lucky to have it where it is!

Kimberly, I can't believe that the doctor did that to you! I'm sorry. I don't have any room left in my trailer! I've had it for 9 years and is full of crafts from my scrapping friends and crafting stuff that has been bought!
  • Dawna.s Place
    Good Morning,

Debbie wowser that's 12 hours of gift wrapping and your sister is only half done, she wins! Although I probably spent that much time getting all mine into gift bags, gawd forbid, if I actually had to wrap all of them! I'd be wrapping right up until Christmas Eve! lol I'm afraid I don't like driving in the dark either, those oncoming LED truck or SUV headlights just blind me these days. I see halos and giant streaks around all the lights which is seriously distracting. Last month I had to drive home in the dark from Jessica's house and she lives 50 minutes from me. By the time I got home I was so exhausted, I went straight to bed! BTW, I loved your submission to our fur baby poem. Of course, the shenanigans continued yesterday with another great submission from Erin, then I had to chime in this morning as well. We still have 5 more submissions to go, so our poem is growing and growing. When it is finished, I've decided to have it printed up into a booklet as a fun keepsake for this years swap. I will get copies made for everyone including the card exchange participants as well and send them out after the New Year. It will be fun to have a printed copy to share with our friends and family. lol

Jessica wishing you safe travels back from NYC today.

Elizabeth, were you able to get outside to play in your Craft Palace yesterday? Or is it still warming up? Did you get any more snow? We've been in the mid 80's here all week, so I snuck in a little time out on the back patio. It was a gorgeous day out. More of the same is on tap for today.

Still no baby news yet. Just have a wedding gift for Skyler and Luna from my SIL Vic to wrap up today, then I need a card to go with some truffles for my neighbor. DH delivered cards and truffles to a few other neighbors, and he also ran a tin of cookies and a card to my nail gal on his way to Costco yesterday. I've had a tin of cookies for mailman that I've tried to deliver the past two days, but a substitute has been here the past two days. I do hope Robert, our regular mailman, shows up today (he is so good to us!). Otherwise I may be tempted to taste test them! lol

Well it's time to make the rounds, enjoy the day everyone!

Yesterday, Dawna, I went up to my best friend's house and spent some time with her! Then we went to Weed's Cafe for a great lunch. By the time I got home I was too tired to go out to my CP!

I can't drive at night anymore, either. I sure don't like those LED headlights either. They should be outlawed.
  • Dawna.s Place
    Good Morning,

Elizabeth, I have to agree with you about outlawing those pesky LED headlights, they are too blinding and can easily cause accidents. So glad you got to spend the day with your BF and enjoyed catching up over a nice lunch. Time spent with friends is priceless.

Yay, today is little Nolan's Birth-day! He hasn't made an appearance yet (unless he came in the night), so the Dr. will induce Anika's labor today. She is so ready to be done with this pregnancy. I think being overdue, this past week was a bit rough on her as she has had intermittent contractions most of the week. I'm just praying that she can have him naturally, without needing a C-section. Having a new born and one that's 18months old (Aubrey), she needs to be as healthy as possible and an unexpected surgery would be a real setback for her. Please send her good vibes for today!

Time for more coffee. Enjoy the day!

Oh Yay Dawna, there's a baby coming today. Looking forward to pics and info on health, weight and height. And count toes and fingers.

I spent yesterday cleaning up my craft area. I seemed to have created quite the mess working on those three Mintay Challenge projects. Right now those are just about the only Christmas decorations I have up. We still haven't brought up the tree or any of my other Christmas decor and most likely will not bother. I'm already dreading having to find a box to put away the stuff I made recently. The first thing I did this morning was to finish ordering Christmas gifts that need to go to out of town family. Looks like they won't be receiving it until the day after Christmas. Oh well, better late than not at all. I also still have a couple more cards that need to go out that will be a bit late. And we finally ordered the ham that we contribute to Christmas dinner at my sisters house. It's amazing how much I can get done when it's under the wire. I had to send my moms gift back so I still need to run out today to pick up something for her and if I still have any money left, I'll grab something for the family gift exchange game. I sure hope I'm more on top of things for next year.

We had tons of snow yesterday but it will most likely start melting today because of the bright sun. Still freezing out but it's nice and sunny. Well, off to get things done.
  • Eapipkin
Deanna, thank you so much for the lovely Christmas card and your sentiment. That was very special.
  • Eapipkin
I wanted to clean the bathroom tub but my husband won't let me! He believes it will mess up my back, and his too! Especially before the holidays!
  • Dawna.s Place
Little Nolan made his appearance today! Anika went into labor early this morning, they did not have to induce labor. She had him naturally. I'm so relieved. God answered my prayers.

Debbie I know he has all his fingers and toes, but Anika was pretty tired, so I will get his weight and length in the coming days.

Elizabeth love the new Avi. I can't clean the tub either, so you're not alone. Maybe you can get your son to rinse it down for the two of you.
  • Eapipkin
Dawna, that's wonderful! I'm glad the baby came naturally. Thanks on my avi. Can you tell it was taken about 7 years ago, maybe longer!
  • Pierced_scrapper
Dawna, wonderful news! I was two weeks late and I made my appearance on July 4, I made a bang in the morning before the picnic. Except i was breech and mom needed a C-Section. Babies seem to come when they want.

Congratulations to you, Anika and the family!
  • Debbie.K
Elizabeth, beautiful Avi. I should pull one of mine from the Archives. lol Elizabeth, you should order one of those tub cleaners from Amazon. They have a long handle so you can stand and clean. My sister has one and it's so cool. I may buy one just to keep on hand for those days my niece can't make it over to help me. She always tackles the bathroom.

Dawna, HUGE congrats on the new baby. I'm so excited for you. How's momma doing? I bet she's glad to have it done.

I finished all my Christmas shopping yesterday. My son and I went out and got it all done. I was so worn out be the time I hit Michaels that my knee didn't want to walk to the check out counter so I sat on my walker and my son pushed me to the front. Just as good as having a wheelchair. And lucky me, that I found that wheelchair at a garage sale over the summer for $3.00. I grabbed it figuring I was getting old and may need it someday. Well, since my fall, some day has arrived. lol Now I just need to wrap up all those gifts. Thank goodness I'm done because we are down to the wire. My craft space is all cleaned up so I think I'm going to tackle a couple of cards. I want to try out my new printer to see how it does printing a few images I want to use. I'm so excited to be able to start printing my own images again.

    Enjoy you Sunday everyone.
