That is just super-cool that the Pelicans can come and go as they please. We have some at one of the local parks and they only come for winter. I love that you caught one of the pelicans opening it's wings!!

Three White Pelicans from the Phoenix Zoo. After the BP oils spill filled bird sanctuaries beyond capacity the Phoenix zoo took on 12 pelicans. The pelicans had all be injured in previous catastrophies and would never be able to survive in the wild. They were however, healthy enough to be moved to a new home. The pelicans are not enclosured and occasionally wander across one of the splash pads. They are really quite amazing to watch.
