This is vintage perfection!!! I love all the rich layering, color variations, textures, techniques gosh, I could go on and on! Its just so rich with layer after layer of beautiful details! Stunning work, a fav for me!
Graphic 45 papers are absolutely perfect for this gorgeous heritage project. I love the detail of the ribbon bows tied up in the lace trim. That's an interesting technique that I don't think I've ever seen before!
Beautiful, detailed page!! Love the white flowers too, I will have to look for them. All your details and description are amazingly creative. Very heartwarming story and the love is shown through out this layout.
This is simply incredible. I love the explanation of what you used and how you used it. Who knew you could find scrappy things at Salvation Army. I love the story behind this photo and your expressions of love for him. Every inch of this is just perfectly embellished. I think it's the most beautiful heritage layout I have ever seen. Such love put into making this!
This layout is absolutely stunning and one of which you can be justifiably proud! I love how you took bits and pieces from various sources and combined them into a masterpiece! You've made me want to use my embossing folders more!
I am so thrilled to share this with you! This is my second layout that I made for a special order from my stepsister. In the lovely picture is my stepfather and his first wife when they were first married. She passed away a few years before he married my mom in 1982. He was a wonderful man and stepfather and I was so blessed to have him in my life.
I enjoyed making this layout so much even though I worked on it off and on all week long. I chose the main background paper right away but the rest took me awhile. The pieces I matted with the picture were scraps in a bag that I picked up at the Salvation Army, except the brown leather looking material was what I had covered a footstool my son, Sam, made for me when he was in high school. It looks like tooled leather and is so pretty. On the two pieces under that I ran them through a Paper Studio Intricate Swirl embossing folder and then inked over the raised edges with TH Walnut Stain. I loved the look of that so much I spread them out further instead of centering the picture over it. The script paper is Canvas Corp French Script. The striped paper is G45's Ole Curiosity Shoppe (both from Salvation Army store).
For the June Pick a Technique Challenge I used all three techniques...distressing, punching and misting. I sprayed the leaf borders as well as the name plate with Perfect Pearls Heirloom Gold spray mist and also inked over the leaf borders a little with the TH Walnut Stain. The leatherlike flowers are from Hobby Lobby. Marylou had given me some but I bought some more when I ran out of hers because I just love them! Marylou gave me the off-white web trim on the left and the little doily under the name plate that I inked up with Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain around the outer edge.
The oval frame plate where the title is was also in the bag from SA. It looked like it was cut from TH grungepaper. I used Stampendous Chunky Black embossing powder and their Mica Flakes on it. On the Creative Embellishments "Legacy" chippie I heat embossed Ranger Platinum embossing powder.
All the butterflies I've had in my stash a long time and had previously die cut and embossed several of them. Clocks are from Pinterest. The ombre netting trim on the left is from Hobby Lobby.
