      Yes! I have used my extended platform and cutting pads with the switch. Even though they aren't as wide as the platform and cutting pads it comes with, those extended and standard sandwiches still trigger the mechanism to start the Switch.       Stacey from Scrapbooking Made Simple did a video showing what it can/cannot do. Very impressed by her honesty. She is not paid by Sizzix so her answers are her own. Also she informed us that it has taken 2 years for Sizzix to bring this machine to market. They worked all the "bugs" out before bringing it to us.       If you’re referring to the longer rectangular piece with the intricate design, it can be used as an in-laid design, like a peek-a boo you can put a different color behind to give a kind of lacy border look, or use the outer part and cut it out to place it on your card like a border piece, tone on tone, with a contrast peek-a-boo color or even clear using acetate. Many uses. If you’re talking about the smaller rectangle piece, I haven’t looked at it too closely, however I suspect it creates ‘fringe’, which you could roll up and spread the small fringes out to use either as it’s own flower, or as a flower center (the more likely purpose). Therectangle cuts the inside out as well as having a border. I hope this helps. There are quite a few You Tube videos showing the Switch machine in use.       Yes the extended and the standard both trigger the Switch to feed the items through the machine.       I have cut intricate dies. One came with the machine. I cut into a Scrapbook self healing pad with the Switch acrylic cutting plate on top.. I had the blades cut into the self healing mat, not the harder acrylic cutting plate, The die cut beautifully and cleanly with one run through.

      I have a die that none of my machines like. I added a thin metal shim that came with mt Spellbinders Platinum under the Scrapbook self healing mat.       Hello! The plates for die cutting are the same that you will use for embossing with the Switch machine.     Hello fellow crafters, I know this is electric. My question is what's the size difference between the Big Shot Plus & the Switch? Meaning is the width just as wide. I have the Big Shot, and it's more narrow compared to the Big Shot Plus. I have been saving for the Big Shot Plus, because it is wider.       Yes, I have this machine and I find it accommodates all of my dies including Anna Griffin and Gemini, but I love it most because it accommodates my many Bigz dies. I needed an electronic machine to ease the pain in my arthritic shoulders. I also love that it can use my smaller sandwich plates from my old hand crank Big Shot if I have a smaller project!       Hello, the sandwich that needs to be used with the Bigz Dies is:

      (Top)
      Clear cutting Plates
      Paper/Material
      Bigz Die with Blades facing up
      Clear cutting plate
      (Bottom)

      If you are using a Bigz die with the crease-rule it is highly suggested to use the premium crease pad as the top plate.       The manufacturer states that this Big Shot Switch Plus Machine will work with all of the Sizzix dies and embossing folders. It does not specifically say it will work with 3d embossing folders of any brand. It may work with other brands but we cannot guarantee that.       To use the Sizzix Big Shot Plus Switch Machine with a steel rule die, place the die between a pair of cutting pads with the paper face down over the part of the die design you would like to cut. If needed, use washi tape or masking tape to secure the paper in place to get perfect placement of your paper. Set the die and pad "sandwich" on the cutting path of the Big Shot Plus Switch Machine and push the electric feed button on top of the machine.       Hello! Yes this can cut an 8.5x11 sheet of paper. This Big Shot Switch Plus Machine will work with all of the Sizzix dies and embossing folders, we cannot say for sure it would work with ANY die, however many dies are compatible with other machines. At this time, we do not know if this machine will have a specific magnetic platform made for it, however the other Sizzix magnetic platforms would be compatible.       Hello, we are sorry to hear this about your Vagabond 2. We think it depends from person to person. The Sizzix Switch does make noise but we have been told it is loud as well as quieter than some machines people have used in the past.     I am preparing to purchase the Sizzix - Big Shot Switch Plus Machine - Starter Kit - Cherry Blossom machine.
    I have noticed some comments that I need other items that are not included in starter kit.

      One last question... are there any video or courses on how to use Dies with the machine? I was rather surprised to find no directions. I do see how to make the sandwich on the plates, but I am not even sure which direction (smooth side up/down?) to set the dies on plates. I feel like they assume we have used a die machine before.       It’s not missing anything you need to get started. If you’ve never used a die cutting machine before then you might enjoy having additional accessories such as a magnetic base plate or a magic mat or magnetic magic mat. You might also like to have spare or regular sized cutting plates (cutting plates eventually need replacing, but will last a very long time before replacement is required and are still very useful when they’re all scratched up, there’s also tips to avoid/recover from warping). The additional things are down to personal preference, they are not needed to be able to use the machine. I am a fan of the magic mat (I only have a regular sized one that isn’t the new magnetic kind).       Hello, yes other dies and embossing folders that can be used in smaller machines can be used in this machine as well. You would use the recommend sandwich for the machine and depending on the die or embossing folder you may need to adjust the sandwich with a piece of cardstock as a shim.       Thank you for asking. Most dies and embossing folders can be used with any die cutting machine. It's just a matter of experimentation to get the correct thickness of your sandwich. Always start with thin and gradually add shims or rearrange layers to get the desired cut. Placing your die cutting side up with paper over it, as opposed to cutting side down) will usually produce a better effect in the Switch as well.       Thank you for your question! Many variables will determine how long your plates last, depending upon how frequently you use the machine and how well you configure your sandwich so as not to apply too much pressure when operating the machine. More pressure will cause faster warping, so always start with less and then add shims to increase pressure if needed. Plates can also be rotated to minimize warping. The manufacturer states that the Big Shot Switch Plus Machine will work with all of the Sizzix dies and embossing folders including Sizzix Bigz, Sizzix Bigz XL, Sizzix Originals, Sizzix Scoreboards, Sizzix Movers & Shapers (with Magnetic Base Tray), Sizzix Thinlits, Sizzix Framelits and all brands of chemically etched wafer thin metal dies. It does not include Stampin up embossing folders. Small dies should be secured between the plates with mint tape to ensure they do not slide around. If so, then you need to treat this as an embossing folder following the directions on your machine not a die where you used cutting plates.       Also the Tim Holtz A plate states on the bottom Do Not for embossing folder. The other 2 does not have it on there

      Stacy from Scrapbooking made simple shows this and her suggestion is to mark it on the A plate that comes with white or pink machine

      I found the machine a little heavy, so I put some small sliders on the bottom (the kind that are sold for kitchen appliances) and it solved the problem.
