The truth: hand-crank die cutters now seem like something from the Flintstones! Not exaggerating at all. Although, this is my first electric die cutter, so I'm in the honeymoon phase.
I just bought the Scout a couple weeks ago and thought that was tremendous fun after using a Big Shot for 12+ years. Adios, Scout! See ya when the power goes out!
The mini Empress has a 4.75" wide slot to boot! Nothing about it feels mini.
I LOVE being able to see my die cut results without separating the plates, too. For this reason, I don't plan to cut into the magnetic mat like many crafters do. I'd rather see the cut and whether it needs another pass, and just adapt to reversing the paper/die orientation. Especially while I learn its capabilities. Speaking of the magnetic mat, WOW. The entire mat is thick, flexible and has a strong magnetic force. Removing a steel die from the mat is easy to do by slightly bending back the mat to separate it from the die. If you try to slide a die off or just pull it away from the magnetic mat, good luck! That is not the way. Lol.
The price ranges a bit with various online stores, so it can pay off to check around and take shipping into consideration. SBC made buying from them a really easy decision during a higher than usual discount code period. Plus my purchase qualified for ALL the freebies offered at the time as well. HELLOOO!
"A game-changer" is so appropriate and so genuine in this instance. I highly, highly recommend this brave little cutter that could!
I have been trying to catch this machine on sale for a long time now and lo and behold Scrapbook.com did not fail my expectations.
I am one happy camper I do own a Gemini but I needed something smaller and with arthritis to get another machine to crank was not in the cards for me .
Thank you scrapbook. Com for allowing me to be able to afford this machine.
I Absolutely Love it and have been using this since I received it my die cuts for Xmas cards are almost done.
This is the perfect machine for limited space. It die cuts beautifully and the cutting area is large enough that I can get sentiments and embellishments cut without having to leave my desk. I love it!
I like everything about this mini die cutter, except placing the dies cut side up. Cutting stamped images using dies that align with the design is more difficult.
I’m so glad I bought this! I’m approaching my late 70’s and it is time to retire my 18 year old Sizzix Big Shot (which still works perfectly, so I’ll try to find a new home for it.) I wanted an electric machine that with a small footprint that could live on my desk. The Empress Mini fit the bill even better than I expected. It cuts dies very well and it will even take most of my background dies! It also takes regular sized embossing folders without a problem. I couldn’t be more pleased. It’s a mighty mini, for sure! I highly recommend it!
I am reviewing this before it even arrives as I know I will love it! I recently bought the larger Empress Elite and was waiting for this to come back in stock and Scrapbook.com has the best value on it so grabbed it up even though I couldn't necessarily afford it quite yet!
This die cut is amazing! It is compact, quiet and fast! This is my 3rd die cut machine and due to arthritis in my shoulder I needed an electric machine. It is above land beyond what I expected. It cuts so well, especially intricate dies. No fuss and so simple to operate. What a dream come true and my shoulder is saying THANK YOU!
I love this little die cutter so much! I've had to switch to mostly electric cutters because of my arthritis. I have several other brands in various sizes, manual and electric, and this is my favorite! It's small but it handles almost all of my die cutting needs. It can just sit right next to my project that I'm working on without taking up much space. It cuts like a dream. I love the magnetic mat that comes with it. Sometimes I use cardstock shims to add a bit of thickness but that's no big deal. I highly recommend it! BTW, I liked it so much, I also bought the large Empress.
