Yes you can. The only difference you’ll experience is that although it accepts ink, the areas around it, such as the nooks and crannies, will accept ink more, and paste will react like a slight resist. So, it depends on the look you’re going for. However, if you use texture paste instead, the ink will be the same color on the paste as on the surrounding nooks and crannies. I only own texture paste, as it dries much smoother in the end vs. embossing paste, and is also easier to apply despite being a little thicker. And another difference you will see is if you heat emboss the embossing paste with embossing powder. You’d apply powder while it’s still wet, then once dry, go ahead and heat emboss the embossing paste. The texture paste, however, will bubble up while heating and give you a different look in the end, and not quite as nice. So I’m going to color the paste itself using ink before applying to my project, and I’ll have no need to heat it. I just saw a video by J. McGuire on youtube and this is all of her information, by doing a side by side comparison. So hope this helps just the same.
