I've scrapbooked for more years than I can believe, so I can tell you in all honesty these tools are a breakthrough for scrapbooking. I'm so happy about them, but my husband might be happier.
I'd had his precision file set in a container on my drawing table for years until this set came out. Occasionally, he would grumble about finding them there (and rightfully so), but I didn't want to spend more money on another set just for me. I figured we'd just have “the discussion" now and then when he discovered their disappearance from his workbench. Really, you and I both know they were better off on my table actually being used than in the garage. DH isn’t a handyman but he wants to be prepared should the day ever come - with his tools all neatly hung up. Hence, the conflict.
My huge hope was that a scrapbook company would one day come up with a file set just for us girls (and some guys:).
BasicGrey to the rescue! My husbands’ files have now been returned to their permanent place on the workbench and I'm the very contented owner of beautiful, durable, stylish, useful, versatile, precision files I use in some way EVERY TIME I scrapbook. Thanks so much, BasicGrey. I LOVE these babies and my adorable husband too!!!
TIP: Both of the large files in the set have pink "handles" on one end. They are removable so the emery board-style files can be changed out as needed.

I have a short story to tell you ... I ordered this product, and at the time I thought I would love it, now I have a memory problem so when I got it, I wondered ... what in the sam hill was I thinking ... so I opened it up and put it in a holder and promptly forgot all about it.
Then one day, one of my frames I had made out of cardstock hadn't cut clean ... I didn't want to cut it with scissors, unfortunately, I am a perfectionist and I knew that it would look different than the other edges ... all of a sudden I remembered this file set. Fortunately for me, my craft room is all labeled (remember the memory thing) ... I pulled them out and looked at each piece and carefully used one of them on the rough edge. Now, I have to admit it looked much better but not quite right, so back to the precision files once again, and I pulled out another one that looked like it might do the job ... and with careful filing... I finished the edge to perfection.
Since then where I don't use it constantly, when I NEED IT THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THAT WOULD DO THE JOB AS WELL AS THIS DOES! I am sooooo glad I bought it ... it is wonderful!!!! Give it a try where you may not need it all the time, but when you do ... you will wonder how you ever got by without it!
When I first seen this item, I didn't think too much of it. then I was working on a project and couldn't cut close enough to the chipboard to clean it up. So I just had to get this. How did I ever do chipboard before. It has so many different items to get into any corner you need. AND I had never distressed anything before, but for the last week or so, I have been distressing like a mad woman. Awesome tools. this is definitely a tool that I will use for a very long long time. I just love the little files. I use to trace my chipboard letters and then cut them all out by hand, which I like to do, then I would glue them onto the chipboard and if any didn't fit right, I would use an exacto knife to try and cut them closer, messed up lots of times, now I don't use the knife, I use a file and get so much closer and it looks so much neater. Thanks to basic grey for coming up with such an awesome item. My sister in law is just starting to scrapbook and I told her about this item, so my brother took her to buy one of these can't live without items.

I love the distressing technique. When I first started I used a simple emery file board and used to work fine until I tried to get into more intricate places. I needed something else to get to those details. One day browsing through the galleries I saw this Precision File Set that was used on one of the layouts. I went to my LSS that same day and I bought it, still a bit doubtful to how was going to work. To make the story short, I will never use a plain emery board again. I love my BG files for all my distressing jobs. It's some tool you must have if you like to distress like me. It's not expensive at all and it will help you and make your job much, much easier. You got to try it!
I have not found any faults to this tool yet.

My friends call me a scrapbook tool addict and are always laughing at me when I pull out some new handy gadget I just had to purchase. When I pulled out these to distress the edges of a photo my friend asked why I didn't just use an emery board, and why would I pay money just for the pink handle. I didn't bother telling her how fabulous they were, how they get into every nook and cranny, how all the different shapes really are useful. But when she needed to smooth some chipboard edges, I told her to try them. Now she borrows them all the time and I have stopped myself from dancing around the crop singing "told you so told you so."
I was so excited to see this file set in the Superstore. I love chipboard and I use it a lot. I especially like to cover the chipboard with paper. No matter how close I got to the chipboard with my razor knife, I still had rough edges and little ragged pieces in the tight corners of the chipboard letters and shapes. This file set has been a life saver. It has several different shapes of files and two emery boards. Now I am able to get into the tightest corners and spaces and the chipboard shapes come out smooth. I would call this one of the tools I wouldn't want to live without.

I really do love this entire set. I use it to perfect the edges of chipboard that I'm just keeping as is. I use it to clean my edges on the pattern paper that I've covered my chipboard with and I use it to distress chipboard and straight pattern paper with. I thought an emery board would do just as good, but this is worlds better. Even the boards that look similar to emery works better but the smaller tools are perfect for getting in the small areas and really making your pieces look custom and perfected. A must tool for any perfectionist or distressing scrapbooker!

I was a little skeptical about these...they don't look very big and two of them look sort of like basic nail files that I already OWN. But I took the plunge...the cost was okay enough that if they didn't work, I wouldn't feel too cheated. These are AWESOME though! They are really heavy METAL. I did not realize they would be so heavy duty. I was really expecting sandpaper covered chipboard with pink paper handles. The handle area is rubber...I was just really surprised by the physicalness of them, lol! And they work pretty fantastically, too! ;)
With chipboard being such a craze that doesn't seem to be every going away, I am soooo glad I purchased this kit. It was so nice to have the BasicGrey Precisions files when I was working on my Grandma's mini album and was doing a lot of wallpapering. I was able to file off the overlap and give the book a nice clean look. It also works great for getting into the nooks and crannies when wallpapering the chipboard letters and flourishes. I also use mine to distress photos. I give this product my two thumbs up - big time!

What a great combo of files for every nook & cranny a scrapper could want to smooth! The different shapes of the files (triangular, curved, flat...) are great and really allow you to make a roughed up edge look nice, or rough up a smooth edge--depending on which look you prefer! These are so great for using on chipboard letters when you adhere paper to them!
I would like a sturdier case, but the tools themselves are quite sturdy and seem they'll last a long time. I also appreciate that this set is quite affordable!
