This is so much more. It is not a heat gun, but can still be used with embossing powder. Use it to write in a embossing powder, dip in embossing powder to make dots, or use the different tools to rake thru embossing powder for fun designs. But wait, there's more! You can use the tools on suede paper, and make patterns in it as it melts into it. You can burn designs, letters and such in corkboard. You can melt designs in photos, it leaves just the white behind.
In fact, writing this is making me want to get mine out again!!! Endless possiblities, I'm thinking of using it to doodle on my background by pouring some embossing powder on the paper and dragging the pointed tip thru it.
This embossing tool is great for greating your own designs! Love it! You can etch your own designs into loose embossing powder or engrave designes into layers of powder that's already set by a heat gun. Instead of buying expensive stamps, I just draw my own designs. Totally recommend this tool!
When I decided to take the embossing plunge, I checked out sb.com's store & went with this tool - it was slightly less expensive than other tools & had a bunch of cool tips for different effects! But this worked horribly. First off, it's not like a standard heat tool that blows hot air towards the surface you want to emboss. This is more like a curling iron that emanates heat. I held this above my stamped images covered with embossing powder forEVER and NOTHING HAPPENED. If you do the cool effects that they tell you to do with the tips, you WILL see embossing. But that's only in the event you want to touch the tool to the powdered image to create those effects. If you are wanting an intricate or sharp stamped image to be embossed, you will never get that with this tool unless you touch the image with this (which would smear said intricate or sharp stamped image). I started a thread on the message boards here when I was trying to emboss with this thing.... people assured me that standing above my work with a heat tool for 15 minutes while nothing happened was NOT the embossing norm! I returned this, ordered the Marvy Heat Tool & saw real and effective embossing in several seconds. I'd still be waiting for those embossed results if I kept this - so don't waste your time and money on this product!
