Therefore, it is crucial to handle these magnets with extreme care to avoid personal injury and damage to the magnets. Fingers can be severely pinched between attracting magnets. Magnets can chip if allowed to “jump at” an attracting object. It is highly recommended that when constructing rare earth magnetic assemblies, they are magnetized after assembly.

Magnets of this type are brittle and are prone to breaking. They are also expensive to replace. I have tried using generic brands. Those are either not the right thickness or not as strong. Experimenting without getting good results is also expensive. I have just decided to be very careful with the Misti brand and hope they last.
I have been using magnets similar to this Misti bar magnet but are thicker which makes it difficult when using your Misti. So I finally broke down and bought 2 of these magnets and they are just perfect for using in the Misti, I just wish they didn't cost so much.
Scrapbook.com does charge less for them than other crafting websites, thankfully.
I bought this as a second to the one that came with my Sweet Petunia. Just one didn't seem to hold my card stock absolutely in place. These are very strong magnets and of course you'll goof and get them stuck together at some point. Just put them by the inside edge of your stamping area and slide the top magnet to the side. The edge will hold the bottom magnet in place. Easiest way to unstick them.
Two is better than one for the Misti. I was always afraid my card stock would move, now I’m sure it won’t!
This is my second order for this magnet. I find it is an excellent tool for holding down projects to be stamped in the Misti. My only concern is that they are very strong and sometimes get stuck together and are extremely difficult to separate.
I'm sure there is a strategy to keep them separated but I don't know what it is. Open to suggestions.
I'm so glad misti made a better magnet for the MISTI Stamping Tool. This magnet is really strong now my paper doesn't rise when I'm done stamping. I really love this bar. I bought 2 of them :-)
I’m glad to have this 2nd super strong magnet to use in my MISTI as well as on my magnetic tabletop workboard. I like the fact that it’s slim, but mighty!
I recently received this. It is the 2nd one I have ordered, as the first extra bar magnet I ordered was broken by my original magnet. I could not stop their contact. This recent one arrived with almost no magnification. I am wondering if it was partially de-magnetized in shipment. I put another magnet on it, and I think it helped a little, but in no way does it compare to the original one I have. Is this more recent magnet made by a different company, even though it looks the same?
so much better than the magnets that came with the misti, which cracked and are long gone. I put washi tape around it for easier mobility as all the craft people do on utube.

Is there a way to protect the magnet from chipping or breaking when using/storing it? I watched one of your videos (can't remember which one), and saw that the demonstrator had wrapped her magnet in "painters tape?" - except she kept the ends free of tape. Does this help protect it from chipping? What is the advantage of wrapping the magnet? Thank you for your time.

As answered by other user, 1/2” is the width of the magnet and 2.5” is the length. I feel thickness is just a tad larger than 1/16” but not quite 1/8”. Definitely powerful for its size. I’ve been happy with my purchase.

Will this magnetic work in Other platforms? It doesn�t say the thickness of the magnet�my thickness of my disc is 3mm which is 0.12 inch.
