Dye inks are generally more opaque then pigment and hybrid ink and take longer to dry. They tend to be easier to blend. Some have a reaction to water that causes more white/opaque spots when water is used on top of them. Ink that reacts to water will most likely say so in the name or the description of the ink.
A lot of pigment inks do not blend well because they dry quicker. As the name would suggest they also tend to be more pigmented in color than dye inks .
Hybrid inks have a mix of characteristics from both types and it really depends on the brand which characteristics it will have.
