I LOVE this machine, and I use it all the time, from cutting frames to flourishes. My only suggestion is to buy the thicker mat - it is SO much better than the thin one - AND - it lasts and lasts and lasts~!

I hadn't tried any digital cutting machine before the Silhouette but what I like about this one is that you don't have to worry about buying cartriges. It came with a $10 gift card and I had absolutely no problem getting my new designs on line. They have great tutorials on their web page which have helped me do anything and everything. It takes a few tries and I recommend that you go on online forums if you have a particular question. Welded words are great and I really love this feature.
All in all it is a great machine.

I LOVE this machine. I'll admit, when I first got it, I was totally afriad I wouldn't be able to figure it out! But, I got it and went step by step with the instructions and I figured it out! This is the BEST scrapbooking purchase I ever made! No cartridges to buy and VERY easy to use! It cuts perfectly and looks professional!

I love it, I have only used it once, but I thought its speed and intracacy to detail was very impressive. Also I was amazed at the website where you can build your own library. Makes the cricut look silly.
I LOVE this machine! Its insane the delicate and intricate cuts the blades can make! I always wanted a cricut but what prevented me from always getting one was the cost of the cartridges!!! But with this baby you can download shapes off the internet for $2 a piece AND you even get software to manipulate them how ever you want!!! You want 2 spots on your ladybug instead of 6? You can do that!!!
this machine is the best thing that every happen to the scrapbook/paper crafting world. first of all is will cut any and I mean any true font on your computer so thats a plus right there, second the store is connected right ther in your program so if your in need of a design there is no need to treck to the store just open the buy on line link and there you go. third the dies are only .99 each you can get them one at a time or get yourself a subscription (which is what I did (lol) after reading the small book that comes with the machine and taking the on line classes you are ready to cut just about anything with it. and heres the final kicker it will print, yes thats right it will print a design on your computer and then you bring it back to the machine and it will cut it out I mean you cant beat that, this machine is my best friend and I cannot scrap without it, not to mention their customer service is the best in the world
I have the older version of this machine and admit I was pretty intimidated by it. I really didn't use it much initially. Well, I finally decided that after spending the money for it --- I better figure out how to use it. The last couple days I went on-line and reviewed a few of their tutorials and last night I did my first Print and Cut!!!! I used some clip art I had on my computer / printed it out and played around til I got it to cut what I printed. Now I'm playing around tweaking the cut lines and fine tuning my cuts. I was a little frustrated at first, but kept going back to the tutorial & now I'm feeling pretty proud that I figured it out! I have a lot of clipart that I have purchased and am thrilled that I will be able to print & let my Silhouette do all the cutting work. I like to make my own stickers & embellishments & now I CAN!!!
I love, love, LOVE my Silhouette Digital cutting system! I have done many scrapbooking pages and made cards with my wonderful machine. It is very easy to use, and it delivers everything it advertises. I love that I can choose a design and re-size it to the project I'm creating.
I have worked with other die cut machines...they are ok. I really liked the Silhouette for its designs although all companies have their odd dies out! To be able to use every font on earth and make your own dies is a plus. With a little know how it cuts just about any material.
One needs to follow through with the tutorial from the web site. There are alot to chat rooms out there to learn from other Silhouetters for tips and tricks.
It is wounderful to travel with. Since a laptop goes with me, my Silhouette is easy to grab and go. There are no cartrage load!!
Love this tool..it is my shadow!
this is a wonderful product! I resisted buying a die cutting machine for years because I didn't think I would use all the different expensive dies that I would then have to store. With the silhouette I can create my own die cuts and I can work seamlessly with my existing programs I use for digital scrapbooking. The silhouette cut paper and cardstock, vinyl (which can also be used for glass etching,) heat transfer material, and create the pattern/stencil for placing rhinestones on a project or article of clothing. It's a fantastic product that keeps getting better every week with all the new downloads available in the store.
The only downside is that it does not cut through very thick materials like chipboard. For all the things I can use my machine for I really don't feel like that is a problem. Enjoy!
