This package includes two bottles of Distress Foundry Wax designed by Tim Holtz for Ranger Ink. This package contains two bottles, each bottle contains 0.5 fluid ounces of product. One bottle is Sterling and the other is Statue. This Foundry Wax is a medium that works on both porous and nonporous surfaces and will create metallic highlights on both surfaces. This fluid wax when heated transforms into a very vibrant metallic finish. Be careful when using this product, it is a flammable liquid with a very strong vapor. You will love designing with this new, innovative wax and it will become a staple whenever you need a bit of a metallic, waxy finish on your products.
This is a fun new mixed media to play with. I only got through the Tim Holtz how to video where he was using embossing folders, so my applications of the product is very limited. It is super easy to get awesome results. And the whole evolution of the product is cool. After shaking well, apply a drop to you media mat and it is liquid, then it gets very creamy when you are applying it, then it turns to dust as it dries. It is so cool. By just using a drop at a time you have plenty of time to apply it before it turns to dust. But with that said you do have to use it, don't walk away from it thinking it will stay creamy. I bought both kits and love the silver the best. I noticed that when I heat set it, there is not a dramatic change in the product, like when you apply heat to embossing glazes or powders. It is very vintage/rustic. I tried using my finger to apply it, because that is how I apply my mixed media products, but I did find that I did have better results using a paint brush. I do not even clean the brush when done. Next time I use it I just flick my thumb over the brush and the dust comes out leaving the brush ready to use. I used a baby wipe on my glass media mat. It does take a bit of a scrub to get it off the white mat or it leaves a mark. Not an issue for me as my white mat is well used and no longer white.
It’s worth watching Holtz’s how to… this gives a different effect from any other gilding product I have.
Used in this project: Discovering foundry wax
I decided to get this set to go with the gold and mined colors. These will be good to use as spatter on cards, or whatever could use some gleam on it. I'm sure I'll get a lot of use from these colors of wax. Heating it makes the wax more shiny.
With Tim Holtz's products I never can go wrong. I am a TH addict (on Facebook and otherwise), and whenever he brings something out I must have it. I just love his vintage style. Being myself an older model I love making vintage style cards, all with TH products of course.
Another fabulous TH product - I have bought both sets and have tried them on scrap but haven't used on a project yet. Very impressed with how they work.
These are just magical - and what a game changer! Be sure to watch Tim Holtz video over on you tube for this product you'll learn a ton!
I purchased both sets of Foundry Wax and I love working with them! They're easy to use and really great for adding metal element to your art.
I loved the texture and color of this product. It is easy to use and can apply layers for desired look.
