These are a ton of fun. They work best when you put down a lot of color and then blend with your finger. Very versatile!!

I bought these to compare with my collection of gelatos. I like them both!!! The Distress Crayons have a smoother application and awesomely vibrant colors. The lids click on so you know the product is secure and won't dry out. Great product! I would expect nothing less from Tim Holtz and Ranger.
Love these. Fun to play with and I tried several techniques. They blend beautifully. I like them when I gesso the surfac first, they seem to spread and blend best this way, but still work on "naked" surface too. I also used them with my stencils it several ways with great results.
If you love color, but are intimidated by oozy paints, messy inks or hard to control watercolors, you should get yourself a set of these!!! Watch some of Tim Holtz's videos on this for ideas on how to color with the Distress (no mess) Crayon. I bought this color set and the set with the black & white/ neutrals; now I can color like the big kids and have great looking, colorful results!
I love who smooth and easy it is to use the crayons. They are fabulous.
What can you not say good about these crayons. I have several sets and love them. This little freebie deal was such a nice deal.

I'm really wanting to try these, but right now I'm mostly colouring in colouring books/doodling. Would these be suitable for colouring books or would they smudge when I close the book? Also, would these work on canvases ?

I don't use mine direct to paper and to me the consistency doesn't work well for a coloring book - at least not directly. What I do is put a little on a clear stamp block and then dip my waterbrush into them and paint. They blend really nicely this way and you get this wonderful rich watercolor look.
