Reinkers are an inexpensive way to extend the life of your Scrapbook.com Premium Hybrid Ink Pads. To use, simply shake the bottle, squeeze a few drops on the ink pad surface and work the ink evenly into the pad with the bottle nozzle. It’s that easy! What is the difference between dye, pigment and hybrid ink?

Dye inks are water-based and literally dye your paper. The ink is soaked up by the paper or cardstock so they tend to dry fast. Pigment inks are made of tiny particles that will sit on top of your paper and will take a longer time to dry. They tend to be brighter, with a denser saturation of color and work well with dark colors of cardstock. They are also great for heat embossing since they stay wet longer. Hybrid inks are the best of the two ink types (dye and pigment) as they have properties of both inks. They also tend to be more translucent in their appearance. Hybrid inks are suitable for all skill levels of crafters due to their compatibility with multiple mediums and surfaces.

Tips for use:

  • Hybrid inks have a fast drying time and are not recommended for heat embossing.
  • The ink can potentially stain your stamps - be sure to clean your stamps immediately after each use with hybrid inks.

      Hi! I just received my Scrapbook.com hybrid ink pads today - I purchased the kit that has black and 3 grey tones; I also purchased the refills for this kit. I did a side-by-side test, using the new Scrapbook.com black hybrid ink pad and my freshly re-inked Palette Hybrid Noir Black ink pad.

      I stamped a detailed log cabin and tree scene using each brand of ink on Cougar White cardstock and allowed the ink to air dry and compared the intensity of black ink. They looked virtually identical. (I will add that neither ink was as intensely black as Versafine Onyx Black, a pigment ink noted for it’s unique blackness).

      I tested these stamped images for bleeding using alcohol markers (Stampin Up Blends, Copics and Windsor Newton alcohols). Both brands performed beautifully, with absolutely no bleeding or blurring of the stamp lines. I then tested Derwent watercolor pencils and an aqua brush on the stamped images. Both brands survived this test as well, with no bleeding or blurring of the stamped lines. Conclusion: Both brands get good results when used with alcohol Inks and watercolors.

      The shape of ink pad case is the same for both brands of hybrid ink, right down to the useful finger grips at the sides and how the lid snaps onto the back for handy storage when using. The refills for both brands are the same size and both have the same black caps. Palette Hybrid Inks are made by Stewart Superior. There is no named manufacturer on the Scrapbook.com hybrid pad - their name is the only one that appears on the back label. Both brands are made in the USA. Perhaps Stewart Superior entered into a proprietary agreement with Scrapbook.com to market this line of Inks with their name on them - who knows? Regardless of whether that is so, these new Scrapbook.com hybrid inkpads are DANDY! And the price point on them is dramatically lower than any other competing brands of this type of specialty ink pad. The added advantage is that reinkers are immediately available, also at a lower price than other brands. And Scrapbook.com has speedy shipping, so you don’t have long wait times before you get to use the product.

      This was probably WAY more than you were wanting to know, but I thought the detailed info might address questions that other shoppers might think of as they consider the qualities of these newly available hybrid Inks.     How do the Scrapbook.com Premium Hybrid Ink Pads compare to the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks? Can you use them the same way and get the same results as the Distress Oxide Inks?       I don't own this product but I do have a hybrid ink and it's a different formulation than the Oxide inks. Oxide inks react with water and hybrid inks are waterproof and safe for alcohol markers. Both are great products but for different uses.     Is there a preferred way to store these ink pads. I remember dye inks were supposed to be stored pad up and pigments inks were to be stored pad down.       Good question! Storage of the ink pads are a personal preference. The performance of the pad itself isn't affected either way. The biggest issue would be leaving the lid off of your ink pad for extended periods of time, which will dry your ink pads out much faster. I hope that helps.       "Hybrid inks have a fast drying time, they are not recommended for heat embossing." This statement is on the description of each of the individual ink colors, so no, no embossing powder use!     Do they bleed through Bible paper? I use stamping in Bible journaling art and would love to use this ink there! them there.
