What is the difference between dye, pigment and hybrid ink?
Dye inks are water-based and literally dye your paper. The ink is soaked up by the paper or cardstock so they tend to dry fast. Pigment inks are made of tiny particles that will sit on top of your paper and will take a longer time to dry. They tend to be brighter, with a denser saturation of color and work well with dark colors of cardstock. They are also great for heat embossing since they stay wet longer. Hybrid inks are the best of the two ink types (dye and pigment) as they have properties of both inks. They also tend to be more translucent in their appearance. Hybrid inks are suitable for all skill levels of crafters due to their compatibility with multiple mediums and surfaces.
What are color families?
The Scrapbook.com Hybrid Inks are designed in color families. Each color family has four individual colors numbered 1 through 4 (1 being the lightest shade in the group and 4 being the darkest shade of the group). Color families are an extremely important aspect of layered stamping because each of the four colors coordinates together to achieve a dimensional, layered look. Every Hybrid Ink Pad has the color family name and the color family number clearly labeled on the lid along with the name of the ink pad and the ink shade. NOTE: The 1 color for some color families is designed to be an incredibly light whisper of a shade for that group.

I only have a couple of the hybrid inks from Scrapbook.com, but they are quickly becoming some of my favorites to work with. I'm able to use them with the domed ink blenders and achieve a smooth finish. The colors are bright and vibrant and the impression I get from stamping is always near perfect. I will definitely be investing in more of these inks in the future!

I am in LOVE with these products! I started with 6 and just ordered 13 more! It has improved my stamping abilities quite a lot too.

This order arrived safely this morning, so I can give the proper review to this rose set.
The colors go well with each other and I noticed that the lighter two colors are a bit more defined than the two darker ones, but still are enough different that they work with the set
The rose colors are so pretty and I'm really glad I got this set. They are a bit cooler in hue and I like that. Hybrid inks are really nice to work with and you can even emboss with them because the dry a little more slowly. A+ for these inks.

I stamped the Candy Shop Pink ink onto some paper and later that week it had faded to be almost the color of Pink Flamingo. I am wondering now if they all do that. I am holding off on ordering any more because of this issue

So far I've only used these colors for decorating/stamping flowers, but no doubt I'll find other uses as time goes by.
Other than that, I love the fact that these stack so well, but not so much that the only way to open them is to break the seal with a knife or a fingernail. I'd love a redesign with the second iteration of these where the case was 'waisted' at the join, allowing the fingers to angle in from the outside to the join giving some purchase to break the seal and open the ink pad easily - without fumbling and getting covered in ink.
These inks are perfect to decorate over, paint with, and stamp even a fine design with, with crisp results. Hybrid Inks are the best of both worlds.

I find that stamping onto white label paper then cutting down to size help me see the exact color.

Is it best to store the ink pads right side up or up side down?

If you store your ink pads upside down, the ink will remain on top of the sponge making your impression rich with ink. You get perfectly even images every time without any dry spots.

Are these inks water reactive?

Hello, while some hybrid inks can be considered water-reactive, these are less reactive with water because of the two properties, dye and pigment, combined. They tend to dry faster and are more water-resistant and permanent when dry.

I've used it with embossing powder on HOTP Heat Resistant sheets. You have to clean the acetate with embossing buddy or something similar and then make sure you remove any excess with a swiffer cloth. I make sure my stamp is sitting on the ink pad and the embossing powder that I'm using is sitting open and ready to go.
