This two piece etched die set, Vintage Handcrafted Hexagon Base and Side is designed by Cathe Holden for Spellbinders and is part of the Christmas Flea Market Finds Collection. This die set will help you make a gorgeous hexagon-shaped bowl or ornament with a soft rounded top edge. These dies are made from steel and are lightweight but strong enough to cut through six layers of fabric. These dies can cut many materials such as cork, leather, wool, thin metal, paper, and more. They will not dull over time. These dies are compatible with leading die cutting machines (sold separately). These dies are compatible with the Square Base and Sides Bowl die set (sold separately). The hexagon base measures 5.05" x 4.4" and the curved side measures 3.85" x 3.75". This die set is made in the USA.
I used to recycle Christmas cards to make baskets and boxes (decades ago) by using a hole punch around each segment, then using yarn to stitch them up. These dies are such a time-saver, cutting each piece with holes perfectly aligned. It frees you up to make more baskets, using creative ideas like stamping panels of heavyweight cardstock to individualize your pieces. Love this set! Only reason for the imperfect review is that the dies were attached to each other, and removing them from each other caused sharp spurs that hurt your hands when you are holding them to release papers and poke out holes from the dies.
I had so much fun making multiple baskets. Giving them to friends this Christmas.
This is a fun die set that reminds me of when I was a kid and seeing these in homes filled with candies or nuts. I've only done one so far but I look forward to making many more. I do recommend using a sheet of release paper when cutting so you don't rip your cardstock getting it out of the die.
