How to Use the Sizzix Big Shot Plus Switch with a steel rule die: To use the Sizzix Big Shot Plus Switch Machine with a steel rule die, place the die between a pair of cutting pads with the paper face down over the part of the die design you would like to cut. If needed, use washi tape or mint tape to secure the paper in place to get perfect placement of your paper. Set the die and pad "sandwich" on the cutting path of the Big Shot Plus Switch Machine and push the electric feed button on top of the machine.
How to Use the Sizzix Big Shot Plus Switch with a thin metal die: To use the Sizzix Big Shot Switch Plus Machine with a thin metal die, you'll need to use the included Big Shot Switch Plus Platform with adapter A or the Sizzix Magnetic Platform (sold separately), as well as a pair of cutting pads that are included in the starter kit. To create your die cutting "sandwich", begin by placing the platform on the bottom with the adapter on top of it. Next, place the first cutting pad on top of the stack. Then place your paper right side up on top of the cutting pad. Place the thin metal die on top of the paper, with the cutting edge down. Finish the sandwich by placing the second cutting pad on top. Set the die and Sizzix pads "sandwich" on the cutting path of the Big Shot Switch Plus machine and press the electric feed button on top of the machine and the sandwich should slide smoothly through the machine.
How to Use the Sizzix Big Shot Plus Switch with a Standard Embossing Folder: To use the Sizzix Big Shot Switch Plus Machine with a standard embossing folder, you'll need to use the included Big Shot Switch Plus Platform. To create your embossing "sandwich" begin by placing the platform on the bottom. Next, place a cutting pad or Magic Mat (we do not recommend using the Magnetic Magic Mat with embossing folders) on top. Then place your embossing folder (with paper inside). Finish the sandwich by placing the second cutting pad on top. Set the embossing "sandwich" on the cutting path of the Big Shot Switch Plus machine and press the electric feed button on top of the machine and the sandwich should slide smoothly through the machine.
How to Use the Sizzix Big Shot Plus Switch with a 3D Embossing Folder: To use the Sizzix Big Shot Switch Plus Machine with a standard embossing folder, you'll need to use the included Big Shot Switch Plus Platform. To create your embossing "sandwich" begin by placing the platform on the bottom. Next, place your embossing folder (with paper inside). Finish the sandwich by placing a cutting pad on top. Set the embossing "sandwich" on the cutting path of the Big Shot Switch Plus machine and press the electric feed button on top of the machine and the sandwich should slide smoothly through the machine. *Run through your machine a second time for a more detailed impression.

TIP: The Sizzix Big Shot Switch Plus machine's polycarbonate plastic cutting pads can make loud creaking, cracking, and snapping noises while advancing through the machine that may sound alarming. Do not panic if your machine makes these noises while cutting. This is a normal part of machine operation and the Sizzix pads and machine are designed to withstand the pressures of cutting.

Love this new addition to my crafting supplies! No more wrist or shoulder fatigue due to hand cranking. Production goes much faster because of the ability to cut out many die cuts at once. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars only because there is no handle to carry the machine which can be awkward. Great value for the money. Cuts intricate designs beautifully.
I've had this machine a couple of weeks now and am very pleased with the way it works. Does a wonderful job with the thicker 3D embossing folders and cuts intricate thin dies very well, too! This machine isn't nearly as heavy as my previous Gemini, so it's much easier to move up and back on my work table, although with the reverse switch I really don't move it that often; just run the dies through, hit the switch, and back it out. This bundle was a very good value for the money

Hello! I received the Sizzix Switch yesterday and just unpacked the box. Possibly damaged in shipment, because the box it was packed in was beat up. When I took the film off the machine, I found a crack next to the back foot on the machine. Not sure if it will continue to crack as used. I took a picture of the crack, but I did not see a way to attach the file. Please advise!
Other than that, it was very easy to use and cut great. I'm really looking forward to using it.

I got off to a rough start with this machine. I think that I had the bevels on the plates in the wrong position. I watched several videos and finally chatted with a "happiness specialist" who was kind and helpful. That being said, the machine is amazing. The cuts are clean and precise and effortless. The products that came with the starter kit are awesome. Very fun dies and embossing folder. The starter kit is a great value.

Just got this machine a couple of days ago - small learning curve - getting the plates started straight - I have used it so much already - this machine has a mind of its own - it knows if your putting the wrong stack together and sends it back to you - I think this machine will replace my other machines

I can’t say enough about how well this beautiful machine works. It has worked perfectly from the minute I plugged it in. I’ve been using my standard cutting plates (not the “plus” size ones that comes with it) that I already own from my manual machine so they don’t go to “waste” and I have had no issues. The machine sound is easy on the ears, the auto feed is brilliant and I love how simple it is to use. And the sleek design looks so “classy” in my craft room! A dream machine!

Pleasantly surprised when I received your machine so promptly .
I love this machine, is sleek and elegant looking. Most of all I’ll be able to use all my old sizzix dies with it.
The only drawback was that not all the plates and pads necessary came with it. I had to buy extra the embossing silicone pad and the precision pad. Most machine come with it, at least the silicone pad.
Otherwise I love my machine.
I have registered my machine, so that I can get the extra 2 yrs warranty.

I gave this a 4. It works great. I have severe arthritis in my hands so it’s a blessing to use. I have issues with the plates. I used one day (yes- made tons of cuts and embossed things too) I switched the plates up and down and put the thinlits and folders in different spots but plates are sooo curled already… that is what I find disappointing… doing the boiling water trick on them but still not flat

Yes! I have used my extended platform and cutting pads with the switch. Even though they aren't as wide as the platform and cutting pads it comes with, those extended and standard sandwiches still trigger the mechanism to start the Switch. It's great

Stacey from Scrapbooking Made Simple did a video showing what it can/cannot do. Very impressed by her honesty. She is not paid by Sizzix so her answers are her own. Also she informed us that it has taken 2 years for Sizzix to bring this machine to market. They worked all the "bugs" out before bringing it to us. When money is available I would like to purchase this machine as it will help ease the arthritis problems in my hands.

If you’re referring to the longer rectangular piece with the intricate design, it can be used as an in-laid design, like a peek-a boo you can put a different color behind to give a kind of lacy border look, or use the outer part and cut it out to place it on your card like a border piece, tone on tone, with a contrast peek-a-boo color or even clear using acetate. Many uses. If you’re talking about the smaller rectangle piece, I haven’t looked at it too closely, however I suspect it creates ‘fringe’, which you could roll up and spread the small fringes out to use either as it’s own flower, or as a flower center (the more likely purpose). Hope that helps.

Yes the extended and the standard both trigger the Switch to feed the items through the machine. I've used an extended platform with standard cutting pads and an extended platform with the decorative border cutting pads.

I have cut intricate dies. One came with the machine. I cut into a Scrapbook self healing pad with the Switch acrylic cutting plate on top.. I had the blades cut into the self healing mat, not the harder acrylic cutting plate, The die cut beautifully and cleanly with one run through.

Hello! The plates for die cutting are the same that you will use for embossing with the Switch machine. You use two plates in your sandwich for a 2D embossing folder or one plate for a 3D embossing folder.
