Your wintry crafts will look peaceful when you use the Pine Branch Thinlits Die Set designed by Tim Holtz for Sizzix. Included in the package are 4 thin metal dies that measure 2 1/2" x 4" - 1 3/8" x 1 7/8". These wafer-thin chemically-etched die sets are designed to cut, emboss or stencil a single sheet of cardstock, paper, metallic, or vellum and are compatible with the BIGkick, Big Shot and Vagabond machines (sold separately).
Very nice design for cards and such, the pine cones cut nicely, but you need a couple shims of paper to get the branches to cut. I've tried several types of paper, and still the same result, the branches don't cut through unless I add a couple shims of paper, then it cuts through. I think the die needs to have deeper cutting forms. I like the design very much. Just hard to cut the branches.
the pine cone looks great, but i can not get the branch to cut clean—disappointed.
At first l was having a lot of troubles with this die cut especially the pine branches, it just wasn’t cutting clean. Than read somewhere to place your paper down than a Piece of Wax Paper than your die cut. That was the trick so if your die isn’t cutting clean try the Wax Paper works every time. Also tried this little trick on another die l was having troubles with. It worked than just peel off the Wax Paper.
Love this die set. It's very detailed so I had to run it through a couple of times even with my electric machine, but it is lovely when cut and sprinkled with embossing powder! Fabulous results! Very happy with my purchase.
I have a very hard time cutting out the pine branch no mater what I try.
I love this design! It would be the perfect design if it had a solid image of the pine cone to back it. Unfortunately, I can't get a complete cut with the dies. I've tried it on my Cuttlebug and my Big Shot, shim - no shim, etc... I will play a bit more, see if I can get it to cut, but I suspect I'm going to return this one. The design is so detailed the entire middle section barely impresses, let alone cut. Service, as always, was A+!
I love this die set, designed by Tim Holtz. It is quite intricate, but the results are worth the effort. The cones cut and weed easily enough, but the pine boughs can be a challenge. That said, make sure they are cut through the paper completely, and if they aren't, shim them and run them through your die-cut machine again. I promise you will love the result!! I've made several cards using the configuration shown on the packaging and love it.
This is a really nice die set! I like everything about it and will get a lot of use from it. The size is great and I like the length of the two pine branches and the pinecones. I was hoping it wouldn't be too small, but the sizes of the dies in this set are perfect for me.
The dies are sturdy and well-made.
this did not work for me either. After reading many comments I did the following.
I tried the shim, misted the layer beneath the die and ran it through the vagabond machine 3 times. It finally worked.
I can't wait to use this beautiful set of dies for my holiday card projects!
