This gorgeous Leafy Twigs Thinlits die is designed by Tim Holtz for Sizzix. This die is going to add beautiful backgrounds to your cards. This die can be cut out and used as a stencil for more creative options. This is a wafer-thin, chemically etched die that is designed to cut, emboss, or stencil a single sheet of cardstock, vellum, foil, or paper. This die is compatible with leading die cutting machines (sold separately). This die measures 4/14" x 5 1/2", perfect for an A2 or standard sized card.
This thinlit cuts so beautifully that I barely have to punch out any bits left attached. The shape can be layered whole or cut and used in pieces. I have used it cut from decorative paper and to cut out a piece I had inked and embellished first. Lovely!!!
I esp liked it that the details of the leafs and twigs stood out so well.
I was excited to get this but I have yet to get it to completely cut thru any paper. I have tried multiple papers with different weights to them, I have tried it on 3 different machines (Sizzix Big Switch Plus, Spellbinders Platinum 6 and a brand new, out of the box, Anna Griffin Empress), and along with these machines, I have tried the bubble wrap and additional paper shims but no luck. None of this should be needed to cut a Sizzix die. They're usually very good dies. This one though just doesn't work for me.
Frustrated that this die does not cut as well as I had hoped. Spending a lot of time fussy cutting out the areas that did not cut, was not for me. It is difficult because of the fine nature of the die. I have tried it with many different paper weights and I am using a Platinum 6 machine. I am not a beginner in crafting, having done it for years. I find that it was a disappointment. This is probably one of the dies that I would not purchase again, and I love dies.
