Martha Stewart Crafts

Martha Stewart has been a household name in the areas of cooking and crafting for many years. Martha began her career as a local caterer in 1976, utilizing her basement as her headquarters. As a result of many successful catered parties, she was offered the opportunity to write a book including her recipes and ideas. This book proved to be highly successful and more books followed.  With the success of her books, many opportunities opened for her to write articles in numerous newspapers and magazines along with television appearances.

In 1990 Martha signed a deal to be the editor-in-chief of “Martha Stewart Living,” a new magazine that opened with 250,000 copies being published. In 2002 the magazine peaked with two million subscribers. From the success of the magazines came a television show and regular appearance on morning television.

In 1997 with the assistance of a business partner Martha created “Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia” which brought all her business ventures under one umbrella. She also launched a company website. In October 1999 the company became publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange with Martha Stewart holding 96% of the holdings. At the close of day one, Martha Stewart became the first female self-made billionaire in United States history.

Martha has since signed deals to create a line of homes, wood flooring, a full home line for Macy’s, a line of crafting items for Wal-Mart, JC Penney and many more.

In 2007 it was announced that EK Success and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia had reached an agreement to produce a line of craft items under “Martha Stewart Crafts.” These items are currently sold in many large stores nationwide and online where craft items are sold. Scrapbook.com carries a wide variety of products by Martha Stewart Crafts.
