Teaching and idea Books

I live in a small town and my local Scrap store doesn't have many books. I have lookied on line (here and Amazon), but I am not sure what books I should get. I hope to take a day trip to "the city" and really look someday, but I have a new baby.

What book(s) do you recommended for a teaching yourself? For ideas in simple, more formal style layouts? For journaling? For other reasons?

Suggest you subscribe to Simple Scrapbooks or Creating Keepsakes. They list many books that might appeal to you. Hope this helps.

I agree with Karen B. You can't go wrong with just about any of the Creating Keepsakes books. I have the magazine subscription and at least 4 of their books. One of my favorite not CK book is for layout ideas is Becky Higgins's Sketches book. This is probably my all time favorite book.

I have several books but the one I keep going back to is from Creating Keepsakes and it's titled "Tips & Techniques". It has lots of tips, sketches for layouts and even quotes at the end. It list supplies with it's layouts and even websites for hard to find items. It retails for $16.95, but I got mine with a 40% off coupon at ACMoore. Besides the book, magazines offer a great variety of ideas and tips, especially Creating Keepsakes and PaperKutz. Hope this helps.

I agree, the CK "tips and techniques" is absolutely EXCELLENT! I would highly recommend it. I just orders the encyclopedia today, so we will have to wait to see how that one is.

I also have another CK book, hmm, but I can't remember the title of it right now, but it is also very good. I think I would recommend any of the CK books, I have flipped through quite a few of them and they all look pretty good.

Also, right now on ebay there are quite a few CK books on sale. I was just looking today and they have the tips and techniques book going for about $7US.

I have the new creative keepsakes encylopedia of scrapbooking and i really like it.. it gives you layout ideas and also tells you step by step techniques on how to make items..it has 318 pgs.. lots of neat ideas to make...I purchased that from the ck website..
I also got the new creative keepsakes book scrapbooking with lisa bearnson ( the best of qvc layouts), it has alot of ideas on layouts, it is has sections like accents, stickers,frames,title and borders etc.. comes with a font cd and a 6x6 mini album and papers,emblishments etc, to complete the whole album.. It is a nice book to...
more of a book to get ideas from,, not to teach you how to make it, like the other one.. I got this one from qvc..
