Sewing Machine for card making

Hi,
I was trying to figure out which sewing machine to buy for just card making I bought the handheld singer and then saw all of its bad reviews so I think I'll take it back. Anyone have one or suggest one to get??

I got the Pixie & it didn't work at all, I was very disappointed as it's made by Singer. This past xmas my husband got me a singer from Target, it's one of the cheaper ones @$100, but it does @5 different stitches, which is all I wanted. I would recommend getting a regular sewing machine. Happy Scrapping!! Lynn

I'd suggest getting a low end fabric sewing machine, stay away from the ones made just for scrapping!

I have a husqvarna emerald 118 that I use for sewing fabric and it works well for paper and scrapping but it's a $500 machine!

If you look in my gallery, you will see that I sew on almost all of my cards. I had never sewn before. I'm self-taught. I got my Janome Sew Mini for less than $50 and I LOVE it. It's wonderful, especially for card-making. It's the perfect little machine. I can lift it with one hand. It's so easy to use. Gina K. at StampTV has four videos that show you how to take it out of the box and set it up. I literally turned on the video and did everything with her. I set it all up right at my computer so that I didn't miss a step. Hope this helps!

I've seen that one Candace and it looks like a good value!

I bought a Brother from Amazon for @ $80. It has 10 stitch functions and is beginner friendly. It has very strong reviews.

I had to laugh when I bought mine at Hancock Fabrics. The cashier said, "You do know this is a machine for beginners, right?" I said, "Yes, I do." She said, "Well, it's just not going to go very fast." Aren't they supposed to be trying to SELL us the machines? Anyway, I guess she thought I was a seasoned-sewer or something. That little machine was perfect for what I wanted it for.

Just a little tip I learned.....fill your bobbin with clear quilting thread, and that way you don't have to thread a new bobbin for every color change. So much faster!
