June Cards for Kindness Challenge

We believe that handmade cards can lift the human heart and spread happiness! SB has launched a global initiative to get handmade cards to people who are in need of an emotional boost, a smile, or a helping hand. Want to be a part of this wonderful program? Here's how you can participate:

Program and Challenge Guidelines:

1. Create a minimum of 10 size A2 cards from the following approved theme's:

Thinking of You, Inspirational/Motivational, Get Well Soon/Well Wishes, Thank You, Sympathy, Happy Hello, Christmas, Happy Birthday, Mother's Day, Father's Day and General cards with no specific sentiment.

2. Include an envelope with each card.

3. You may use "Handmade By" stamps and sign or initial the back of your cards (optional).

4. Please do not send cards with handwritten messages in them as they are for use by staff and families to write messages for patients.

4. Complete and follow the directions on the Submission Form for each shipment.

5. For this challenge, please post photos of your cards on this thread so I can keep a running gallery on the front page.

6. Please spread a little love around by commenting and voting on your neighbors cards.

7. Please feel free to hang out and join in the chat!

Prize:

At the end of the month there will be a random drawing chosen at Random.org and one lucky winner will receive a $10.00 SB Gift Certificate! Good luck everyone!

Welcome everyone! So glad to have you all joining us this month. Laura, thanks for bring over Princess61's cards, much appreciated. Zmelgreen just a reminder that you'll need to create a minimum of 10 cards to mail them to sb for distribution. Also, you'll need to submit the submission form (linked in the top post) when you mail them in. I've been trying to reach Stephanie to ask if these are tax deductible donations. They are keeping track of what is submitted, so I'm thinking they maybe. I'll let everyone know what I find out. Enjoy the day!

I got a wonderful masculine kit called Gentleman's Study and boy does it make wonderful guy cards. I just made a few for the soldiers, but I make the next batch for this cause. It sure is relaxing creating cards to go out to those in need. Hope you all enjoy your evening.

OH my, somehow had never favorited this, so have not been checking. Anyway, I started making some cards yesterday. My goal is to make 20 for CKC. Will wait to post them when I have some full sets completed.

Evening everyone, so many lovely cards posted! Nice job! I've been a bit distracted these past few days almost done with taxes and I got a new fur baby! We rescued a 7 week old orange tabby from the local junk yard and oh my what a sweetheart he is! He's been a full time job these past two days. lol I had to say goodbye to my sweet Missy last year so I'm so tickled to be a new fur baby mama again! bbs...

Hi Linzie, Thanks for asking. We haven't really chosen one yet, but we're leaning towards Sparky. Of course not only because he's so playful, literally like a spark plug, but because of the junk yard reference too. It's still a bit to early too tell, but so far this really fits his personality. My only problem with it is that I feel like that's a name better suited for a dog rather than a cat. Kind of like naming a cat Fido! lol We'll give it a few more days and maybe see if he starts responding to it.

Hi Linny, There is no requirement to keep the cards completely flat. I use pop dots to add dimension to my cards, but I wouldn't made them much thicker than that. Flowers can get pretty thick, but if you stick with the flatter ones and a pretty center, that should be fine.

Wow what wonderful cards Darlene, Bev and Linny! I'll get out to the gallery to leave some sugar as soon as I get a break from Sparky. Well it's been quite lively at my house with kitty around. He's really kept us on our toes! lol He's so curious about everything. We actually lost him for about 3-4 hours last night. He crawled up into a cubby behind my printer in the bookshelf and we just couldn't see him there. After checking every nook and cranny like 4 times, we finely saw his fuzzy ear poking out of that hidden cubby. We were so relieved! Have a great day!

Oooh Linny so pretty! And Vickie, those are adorable! I'm really getting excited about our vacation. We leave on Monday to head up north of Santa Barbara to one of our favorite beach spots, Refugio. We're taking kitty with us, so this should be a real big adventure! lol bbs...
