I have used the Tombo Mono before, just never bought any refills. Found Adhesive Tech at Wmart and started using that, until they ran out of refills. Okay, so I bought another Tombo at Ben Franklin about two or three weeks ago, to fill the gap. Well, then last week I got to a Michaels and decided to buy two refills for the Tombo.
Last night my dispenser ran out, so I got out a refill, and then couldn't figure out how to open the dad-gummed dispenser to get the refill in. Arghh, I was so frustrated. So I took it to my hubby (who was watching TV in bed) and asked him what he thought. Well, he decides that this unit is not refillable obviously, but he proceeds to wrench it open, then takes the refill and takes the "guts" out and rewinds it all into the unrefillable unit. It took oh, about 40 minutes, several tools, and several redo's.
Suddenly a lightbulb went off in my head, and I ran to my scrap supplies, remembering that I had a couple of old empty Tombo Monos there. Bring them back to him and he nearly has a cow! They are the refillable ones, and I could have just used them with my refills! Did I feel stupid?
Anyway, just so everyone knows, the NON refillable unit has a clear plastic cover and the number on it is 62114. Don't buy it if you want to refill it. I don't know if it's an older model, or if some people just don't care to refill them, but it pretty much sucks to run out like that. The refillable ones have a bright blue plastic covering. Why did I never know that? Did anyone else ever get caught like this?
