These are photos from my grade school band (I can't tell whether I was in 6th grade or 7th grade). I've never had any photos of me in the band, until a friend/classmate posted these on Facebook a couple of months ago! They allowed me to save the photos, so I was finally able to print out and have some band photos! Sure, these aren't the "best" photos ever...not many snapshots from the late 70's would fall into that category. LOL However, to me, they are some of the greatest photos ever. Not only do I finally have pics of me with the band....and in a parade, nonetheless!!!..., but these were taken on the main street of my hometown. In the background of the pics is THE cafe in town, where we often ate and where my mom worked at different points of time and even ran the cafe for a few years...and where I waited tables ONE day (and did an absolutely awful job as a waitress and people must've felt sorry for me, because I still received monetary tips!). There is, also, the library....yes, I used the encyclopedias there to help write school papers! The beauty shop is in one of the pics, too....I still have great memories of the haircuts I received there, but even more are the memories of having the one lady running the place and she used all 4 chairs to simultaneously give haircuts, perms, colorings, weekly hair settings, etc. ..Oh, if those walls could talk, they would know every bit of fact and gossip for the entire town for many decades!

I did this lo for the August Heritage Challenge and for the AUGUST ~ MONTHLY SKETCH CHALLENGE (Sketch 2).

With the photos not being very clear and with the colors being a little off...as 70's photos do..., I just decided to have fun playing with things on this lo and I tried to play up the music idea for this lo, since it's not really that easy to tell this is a marching band (don't tell anyone, but I don't recall us actually marching, we were just trying to walk in step..sorta...kinda...well, we tried.)
