I love the way you tell your stories and how close to your heart they all are. Keep up the great work on your layouts. I am afraid that my talent isn't that great yet but I am working on it.
I am a dog person. I have had some breed of dog all my life. About 6 years ago my husband and I lost our Min Pin named Spike. He was my best friend and companion for 14 years. It broke our hearts to see him go. We both cried for weeks after we put him down. So I know were you are coming for when you talk about loving your dog. I have started to prepare a scrapbook for our 3 dogs we have now. 1 Min Pin and 2 Mini Dapple Dachshunds. I take funny pics of them and such for the book. I will love working on this one most of all.
What a gorgeous lo. Firstly the story and the photo are beautiful. I love the pps you chose and the pretty colors. The jeweled vines are amazing, where did you find those!! It just all comes together in a serene, gentle way. Love it.
I love this story, thank you for sharing it with us. Bobby is a lucky boy to have so many that him so very well. Oklahoma is a good place to spend the end of your days.
First I love your page. It is so sweet. Then I love your story and that Bobby has been able to come back to someone who loves and cares for him! I'm sure it was hard for your friend to part with him. I believe that animals are often better 'human beings' than a lot of people and it makes me happy to hear good anmal stories.
your journaling is always so touching and really gives you the emotion! Love that about your los. You are so talented. This is beautiful. love the pretty flowers, pps and soft colors. Such a beautiful dog!
What a beautiful story about a beautiful dog. Love the pretty colors you used and the lovely embellishments. Great quote but best of all is that you put the Family embellishment on the lo.
What an amazing page, I love your journaling, made me cry! Such a beautifil tribute to this pretty boy. He is very lucky to have such a wonderful home to spend his final years
Oh what a wondrful heartfelt story about Bobby. He sounds like an amazing member of the family and fantastic best friend. Your page is a beautful tribute to him. The colors in your LO look so pretty with your photo.
Wow! This feels so rich! The deep purples with the pic are just perfect. What a story. Sad yet comforting on so many levels. May we all be blessed with a friend as nice as Bobby.
Bobby is certainly a lucky pup to have two women invested in making sure he gets nothing but the best. The story is wonderful and so is the LO. The floral bg pp is beautiful and it matches the photo so well. I love the floral sprigs and those pink flowers are wonderful. This is going into my faves.
Beautiful Dog & LO!!! Heartwarming story. My Cat JJ resembles my Homerkitty of 20 years who passed 2 years ago. Having him is different but also a little bit of similar which helps my grief also.
Wonderful lo! He's such a beautiful puppy! So nice he can stay active with you! And who doesn't have to get up a couple of times a night! I'm so glad your story had a happy ending! I was so afraid while reading it that it did, whew!
This layout is truly beautiful. I love the papers, punchwork, flowers...all of it. That photo is just so sweet. The journaling was so heartfelt that I had to stop reading a couple times so I wouldn`t cry. I am so glad he is with you.
So glad that you're taking good care of him! That is a beautiful story. I am sorry for your previous losses, I totally understand. This is a beautiful page!!! Thanks for sharing your story with us!
I loved Bob's story...how heartwarming and what a hero you are. Maybe I should come and stay with you. lol. Beautiful photo and layout and I love the colors and the design. Very special!
Awh Pat, what a beautiful page for a wonderful friend. I love the Ruby Rock-It paper that you used. Your love for your fur friends just shines through, I want to be your dog in my next life. Many hugs to Bob and you and everyone there on the farm. Your story brings tears to my eyes. I just hate when our babies get old and we know that their time to leave is approaching.
Oh my gosh, judging by your tender and heartwarming description, Bobby is a sweet, gentle old soul and your BEAUTIFUL lo reflects his personality perfectly. Love the florals, love the colors, love the punchwork, LOVE the lo!!
I met Bobby not long after I lost my dog, Pepper (also an Australian Shepherd). He looks SO much like her, it was like having a piece of her back in my life - even as tiny as it was, it helped my grief.
I was in the process of navigating my relationship with my new dog, Trouble (a border collie). Bobby belonged to one of Erica's friends at the time, but it wasn't long before Barbara asked Erica to take him. Bobby is not a "pack" dog, and he was getting picked on by Barbara's other two dogs and was jumping out of the fence to get away from the stress. Erica took him, and that was the beginnings of our adventures as a group of four - me and Trouble, Erica and Bob. Trouble was two, Bobby was three. We were quite a group, and Bobby and Trouble became very good friends.
After Trouble died of blood cancer at age 10, Bobby took on the job of "tolerant uncle" to my new puppy Cowboy. Cowboy was a bundle of energy and he was a pest. Bobby took it all in stride and taught Cowboy all the ins and outs of how to be a good dog. In fact, it was Bobby who taught Cowboy to come. I'd call Bobby, "Come Bobby, Come Cowboy," and Cowboy would just follow him in.
When Erica went to vet school, her last year of residency Bobby came to live with us. She was SO busy, and her hours were SO erratic. He needed someplace where he would get fed at regular intervals, let out of the house to go potty at regular intervals, and get more than just passing attention. I was delighted to offer our home to him. Then Erica moved to Ohio to take a new job as a practicing veterinarian, and Bobby was gone. Erica and I stayed in touch - we ARE best friends after all, but it was sad not getting a chance to see Bobby. Erica's job was right across the street from her house, so she was able to be home at noon, and even on call wasn't too bad because she was "just across the street."
But the job was very stressful, and she moved again a year ago - to a new practice in Wisconsin. She's very happy, but it's been hard on Bob. The Wisconsin winters are just too tough on his old bones, and Erica's living situation isn't as convenient. She's one of only two veterinarians and the practice is very busy. Bobby was being neglected again - not that he cares. As long as he's got water and food and a dog bed, he's content. But he became pretty inactive, and his joints and mental facilities began to pay the price for his life of lazy.
When I talked to Erica in December and asked how Bobby was, she said, "funny you should ask...." We talked about his issues and it was decided that he would come back to Oklahoma and live with me.
When he arrived, he was on joint supplements and high calorie senior dog food, which he seldom ate. He was unable to walk down to the corner with Cowboy and my DH. He spent most of his time asleep. He would walk into a room, stop, and stand there like a dementia patient who's forgotten who he is and how he got here. But gradually, he's coming back to himself. The routine of activity at my house requires that Bobby get up, get around, get some exercise, pay attention, and get in the game. It's been very good for him. He's been off the joint supplements for almost a month now, and he's much more alert and ready to go out the door anytime anyone is going.
I know, in my head, that the years are catching up to him. Trouble has been gone five years now, which makes Bobby sixteen. He's got cataracts, he's deaf, and he has to get up in the night two or three times to go outside -which is ok because I have to get up to go too. He's an old dog now, and at some point, it will be time to lay him to rest next to Trouble, down by the creek bed under the redbud tree.
But for now, it's just good that he's here. He's family.
