Journaling: So, Eva and Paul would talk about their trips to Ladonia, Texas and the fossils and prehistoric shark teeth that could be found there, among other things. I told Dan that I would like to do that one day (one of my secret longings was to be an archeologist and go on the big digs). My sweetie is so accommodating to my whims and over the July 4th weekend, we set out for fossil hinting and other adventures. May I say it was hot? May i say we found many things, but no fossils or shark's teeth? May i say i believe i suffered from heat exhaustion? May i say the the Sulphur River is smelly, and ridiculously slippery? May I say that Dan and I are as dedicated fossil hunters as Eva and Paul? I'm okay with that! Will we try this again? Perhaps, although my dream of being an archeologist may be shattered.

I found nothing interesting. However, Dan found a piece of pottery that may be native American. It has markings along the face and underneath. I enclose the picture of the "rock" that when you lift the top picture, you see the shattered shale. Solid looking rocks were so deceptive. The pic of me is after i took a spill on the slippery bed of this river. Dan worried that i was hurt. Only my pride, babe. Dan's 1st day haul on bottom right.
