This is for the Aug 15th challenge over at ScrapFaith. Aug 1 was about answered prayers and 15th is unanswered prayers. Here's all the journaling, and why yes that is the new BG Granola.
When I was younger, I saw the world as an ant farm
It was the only way I could reconcile God's existence, true suffering and those pesky unanswered prayers. *Not those prayers like "please let me win the lottery," but the prayers of mothers with children dying of leukemia. Girls sold into salvery. Those horrible abuse cases in the news where some couple lock their son in a cage just to starve and beat him. The ant farm made me feel better about a creator who would let those sorts of things happen. In the ant farm, God would have lovingly prepared our nice world and then left us to our own devices. I know the story of Job. I hear people come out of the most awful circumstances to praise God, but my mind goes back to those poor suffering innocents and the promise of the next life doesn't comfort my soul when I think of the most awful things some people live through. Cheers to all those that keep their faith in tough times...I just don't know.
