These are actually tile that I bought at Home Depot. They come in a package of about 8 or 9 for about $6.00. (I am going to use the butterfly as an example.) I stamp the coaster with the butterfly stamp and then I will stamp the butterfly on a piece of paper. Once on the paper I will cut the butterfly out and lay it over the one on the coaster. This will cover up the design on the coaster so that you are able to stamp the tile with a background stamp without ruining the design. After the ink dries (I sometimes use a blow dryer to help speed up the process) I use chalk to color it in. I bought the chalk at Michael's and it comes in a tray with about 12 colors for about $13.00. Once it is colored in I take the tiles outside and spray them with a sealer so that when they are used the dew from glasses will not make the design run. I use Valspar Stone Clear Sealer which I bought at Michael's for about $6.00. Once that dries I add cork to the bottom of the tile. I tried using the little felt dots but found it to be too expensive, so instead I found 8 1/2 X 11 sheets of cork at Michael's (in my store they are not in the scrapbook section they are on the opposite side of the store near the art supplies) I cut those into squares to fit the bottom of the tile and hot glue them on. Then I tie about 4 of them together for a gift with a ribbon. They make a perfect gift for anyone!
I am so glad my friend taught me how to make these. They are such a perfect and inexpensive gift for anyone. You can personalize them for anyone or anything and they definitley are a nice touch to any room.
