I love this page......I remember these hats...they were the style when I was a little girl....we wore hats to church and any dressy type gathering...along with white gloves...Beautiful page...thanks for the little trip down memory lane!
Hey! This caught my eye-I love the quote and that you put a feather you found in the box in the LO! As always the story behind the picture is priecless! Thanks for that! jen
I just love everything about this page!! Your paper and embellishment choices are perfect....the shapes.....and that wonderful photo!! You staged the hats so perfectly!!
Oh now this is a fun layout! If I had that collection of hats, well, someone had BETTER scrap them in a layout! I love it - part of Alice's legacy is her fashion sense - what more can you ask for! Also, the way you match the layout to the picture content is just superb styling unto itself! Awesome!
Oh this layout is definately "my cup of tea" with it's sophistocated flair and style. Begin a hat lover myself, the page is even more appealing. Everything you've done on this LO is done so right, so excitingly captivating--I'm beside myself with joy. It makes my "Hall of FAV's" and I hope all my friends come take a look at it.
My Mother wore hats and had the hat boxes and all of it.....this brought all of that back to me...what a lovely page to remember your grandma alice...so clever!!!!
LOVE it!! The hats are awesome - I remember when I was little and all the ladies wore hats to church and would not be seen without one! All the extra touches are gorgeous, and I love the lady on the side - so perfect. Awesome layout!!
This is sooo cool. You always have the coolest LO's and stories. I love to visit you. I also love your perspective on everything. Super cool retro looking LO! Also very cool that your FIL gave those to you.
Very nice design! I am starting to fall in love witih heritage LO's. This is so detailed. What Hummel figure is it? I sold my collection years ago. Where did you find the woman? Was this a picture of Grandma Alice?
WOW Shawn . . . this is absolutely gorgeous! So cool you used the extra goodies that were in the box! Awesome hand made flower and pp's are perfect for this! Amazing job!
This is gorgeous! It's giving me ideas of a layout, photos of my aunt in the 1920's, and those wonderful clothes they were worn then! Haven't been able to think where to start with it, but maybe it will materialise after all. I love the way you have the feather and flowers circling around the photo. Great lo.
I love your vintage references and use of relics! Great photo to scrap accompanied by some fabulous textures and handmade flower. (Kitty used to be in a cg with me, and I can testify she's awesome!) The Dymo labels adds a nice modern spin to the page. My ex-FIL gave me a pair of Victorian gloves, but maybe he'd still be around if he gave me a cool stash like this instead. LOL
what a cool layout! i love how you get all those perfect details, like the little coat check tag and the feather. the colors are great as well, and look great with the photo. i had know idea about lilly dache, so it was cool to learn something new! i love her quote!
OMGosh!!! LOVE IT!!! I have been WAY too busy....so sorry I'm just now seeing this one, Shawn....Well, I just LOVE, love, love this LO and its subject! Hee, hee...I see you have an antique wash stand....I have one, too!!! We are just such twinkies! Now, back to the LO...You rock my socks off with the retro flowers, fabric swatches and netting....WONDERFUL DESIGN, dear Shawn! fave, etc....Patty
This is wonderful!!! I am so lovin' that flower made from circles! That is too cool, I may have to scraplift that!! And the photo is cool too, with all the hats. You know, people don't wear hats like that anymore, actually, people hardly ever even dress up like they did in past decades. But wouldn't it have been fun...!!!! Love the page!
My FIL gave this Lilly Dache box full of his mother's hats to me. Opening the box was like opening a little treasure chest! His mother Alice, (Grandma Alice to us) kept a straw hat, two black velour hats, a pink marabou cap, and a mushroom colored wool felt hat inside.
I used; extra feather I found inside the box extra brown tulle inside the box coat check ticket stub with blue ink on edges Dymo lettering MStewart punch hand made Dahlia flower black jewel brads
I included Grandma Alice's favorite Hummel in the photo.
THANKS to Kitty Blevins for the directions on how to make the Dahlia flower from circles of dbl sided cs!
Lilly Dache was quite THE milliner in her day...a household name. She is noted for making the comment," Glamour is what makes a man ask for your telephone number, and what makes a woman ask for the name of your dressmaker." TFL!
