Amazing!!! I love how you've captured the sincerity of the moment and you have a very special son! Being able to appreciate freedom at his age is awesome!
Wow! What heartfelt journaling. Brought tears to my eyes. My DS went there to for an 8th grade trip during spring break a few years ago. Left a huge impression on him. He took many pics of that wall, looking for certain names and one I knew of-the brother of a family friend who lost his life there. But he couldnt' find that one. Too many names to look through. That was the most memorable part of the trip for him and they also went to NYC-we live in Co so this is a big deal to him. You've inspired me to make an album of his trip. That pic is AWESOME, especially with his hand running over the names. Love that story about the cards.
Last spring, my son's 5th grade class trip was to Washington D.C. My husband just retired, so he's a military child, but to view and see the wall in person was overwhelming to him. I turned around to say something to him, and this is what I saw. He walked the whole length of it, just feeling the names. He said, "There's so many names." I was happy he was able to appreciate their sacrafices...he was quiet the whole 2 1/2 hr. trip home.
