Gorgeous machine. I have one very similar from my grandparents, parents. Mine doesn't have as much beautiful gold around it but it is attached to the cabinet and folds under when not in use. Right now it's not in use because it needs fixin. But love it and treasure it.
Wow... what a beautiful sewing machine. You don`t see many of these any more. What a wonderful keepsake. So nice to have so much history in your family.
I love that you have history in sewing & creativity! It's more awesome that your daughters are following in the footsteps & that your Mom still sews on one of these beautiful sewing machines!
Sure thing Martica! Yes, I'm sort of on a sewing-inspired kick this week thanks to someone I know (please see the person shown directly below this post!) ;)
- My great-grandmother use to make me dresses when I was a baby (I still have them!)
- Her daughter, my grandmother, had her own bridal shop....
- Which was right next door to my grandfather...who was a tailor & bought her the shop! (where she made my prom & graduation dresses).
- My favorite aunt (use to make my cousin & I, handmade dolls & crocheted blankets).
- And my mom, has a dedicated sewing room & sews on a machine like the one shown in the photo (sews quilted albums, pillows, blankets & plastic canvas projects).
- Me? My main love has always been fabric yo-yos. I'm very much a hand-sewer. I actually enjoy sewing & find it both relaxing & addictive!
- And my daughters...(they have their own sewing baskets, create dolls & clothing for their stuffed animals & more!)
