Journaling: On our way down Lafayette, we had a great view of the ridge that we just hiked. We could see from Little Haystacks Mountain (right) all the way to Lafayette (left). As I stood there, I marveled at the vastness of the valley and the area we covered with our feet. I was only able to capture Mt. Lincoln in my camera's frame, but we could see it all. And while the photo was just one piece of our hike, our 9 mile hike was just one piece of the 2,181 mile Appalachian Trail. In fact, we crossed paths with one young man who was in the middle of hiking the whole AT. Suddenly, our day hike seemed so short. Employment and parental responsibilities prevents us from completing the whole journey, but I'm glad we were able to experience just that small tiny fraction of the great hike.
