Roadside picnics were a way of life in the 1930s and '40s. Instead of eating in a restaurant, families would pack a lunch, stopping to eat and rest in the open air. This is a photo of my d/h's father (standing) with other family members at just such a picnic. TFL

The September Scraps of Darkness kit, "Passages," lends itself so well to vintage photos. The pps and embellies are awesome.
