Hidden Journaling:
From the time I was a little girl to any day during my current adult life, when I see a hot air balloon I can’t help but gaze up in wonder. The myriad colors they come in, the sense of freedom I get watching them float along with the wind, the awed and slightly scared feeling from realizing how high they are above me. They very early in my life became one of my bucket list things to do before I die. So when I read about a hot air balloon launch happening at a town fair in our area I made plans weeks in advance to insure we could attend. The fair was being held in a town David and I had never been to before so we had no idea where to park. All I knew was that the parking spot HAD to be perfect for me to take pictures from. When we arrived in Ravenna, Ohio it seemed like the entire town was already parked in and around the actual fairgrounds so we had to do a quick analysis of our foreign surroundings and located a sparsely occupied greenhouse parking lot to set up shop. Wouldn’t you know our choice turned out to be a primo location! The balloons ended up rising from behind a tree line directly in front of us and then floating across the lot, giving us a completely unobstructed view of the entire launch. I even got to use the panorama option of my camera to catch several balloons in the air at once. The only wrench in the entire day came about 8 balloons in when my camera batteries died. David immediately was sent on a battery search-and-rescue mission while I caught what I could using my cell phone. His mission was a success (thank goodness there’s a WalMart on every corner) so I only missed a few balloon launches. Our first balloon fair was a blast and only enhanced my determination to experience the thrill of riding in a hot air balloon as soon as possible.
