Oh Natalie, this is stunning! I love the heart within a heart, and the small locket is pricless. The pressed bleeding heart is beautiful, and how wonderful it continues to bloom to this day. Your molding paste treatment is so artistic. You always put so much love and thought into your layout's.
A layout honoring the three woman who were the greatest influence in my life, and shaped me into the person I am today.
This is a photograph that I particularly love. My Mother, my Grandmother, and my Godmother, together on my Mom's wedding day, 1947. Their sense of closeness as a family just glows in this photo! Each woman gave me special gifts, and those attributes are journaled on a pull out tag underneath the large locket, which can be removed by pulling on the locket chain.
The large locket "holding" the photograph was fashioned using molding paste, gold leaf powders, and ink mists.
The small gold locket which is inside of the smaller open heart, is a heart locket that belonged to my Mom when she was a child. It is quite tiny, and inscribed with her initial "S". It's hard to see this. There is also a bit of Mom's hair inside the locket.
The dried, pressed bleeding hearts are my Grandmother's flower. Whenever I think of her difficult life my heart just bleeds. The pressed specimens were taken from a plant in my garden that was given to me by my Mother, who in turn received it from her Mother. Another name for bleeding heart is "Lady's Locket." The dried rose buds were from my Mom's garden, she always dried many flowers from her garden.
Journaling reads: " Suzanna, Marianny and Paulina - three special woman who shaped my heart. Suzanna, my Mother, gave me the gifts of true observation, love of learning, creativity, love of the natural world, and so much more. Marianny, my Grandmother, taught me about unconditional love, simplicity of heart, and perseverance in the face of adversity. Paulina, my Godmother, taught me to laugh - deeply and richly - and to always share. All three woman imbued in me a deep love and reverence for the natural world."
This layout is my entry for the May Heritage Challenge. And I have done the twist, which is do a page honoring Mother, Grandmother or Godmother. And I was lucky enough to have this photo of all three of them together, so I went with it!!
