For the June Round Robbin challenge over at Scraps of Darkness. This is my take on the fabulously talented Bubbachooka's page 'Sunflower' seen here:

and using the gorgeous May 'Summer Breeze' kit. I absolutely fell in love with this kit immediately. All those fabulous Prima Sun Kiss papers and embellies along with the Simple Stories and Deja Views papers. This kit is drool-worthy!

I loooved the colors and pprs Bubba used on her LO and knew I was going to lift it to the last scrap of paper, in my own way of course. This kit was perfect for this photo I took last summer of my DH on the beach in Malibu. I LOOOVE how the sun hits the waves and him just right. I had originally planned to use a sepia print of the photo, but it sort of washed out on these papers and the color one really popped with the colors of the pprs so I stuck with the original!

We had been at the beach all day and it was late afternoon so there was hardly anyone there. It was such a peaceful day. Completely well-deserved after all the drama we've delt with the last two years with his doctors appointments and treatments. I really wanted to make this page as a reminder to him and to me that all of that stuff is just stuff and it's worth it in the long run. Maybe I'm just the eternal optimist, but I feel blessed and lucky every day that we have and knowing each day brings something new and perhaps new hope or a cure! We don't have a destination to reach and just have to sit back and enjoy the journey!

That little ribbon gave me some challenges, but I ended up tying each gather to the paper and double-knotting the string. I didn't try to measure the sections out or make them too perfect, just let them go! I also loved how Bubba made multiple titles and used the words paper as a large journalling. This quote is always on my mind and I'm glad it worked for this page! It really was a perfect day!
Thanks to Bubba for the fabulous inspiration and TFL!
