Love that gorgeous turquoise! You do a fabulous job combining colors and prints. There's always a richness to the color story of each of your projects.
I don't know why you don't think you are good at cards...this is beautiful and well put together. I have a hard time using scraps off my desk to make a card...they have to go in scrap drawer until the card I have in mind needs them. The flower was waiting for this card!
Great card. The colour combination and the Great ribbon makes it a wonderful guy card. I will probably use it for inspiration as I find guy cards difficult
Part of the 20/20 challenge is that, in addition to 20 layouts, I'm supposed to create 20 cards. I will tell you straight up that I am NOT a card maker. I don't see them in my head, and I have to follow a sketch very rigidly in order to make them come out looking like anything at all.
But I've decided that while I am NOT the card maker that some here are, I can do my part to help our troops stationed overseas to write home. So to give myself a reason to make cards, I've joined Operation Write Home, and I'm going to really work at it to make some pretty cards to send to our men and women in uniform.
The guidelines are fairly simple. Dimension is ok, as long as it's not too much. Stickles are ok, as long as they don't rub off. Loose glitter is absolutely forbidden since it shows up under night vision goggles and makes our soldiers visible to the enemy. Any glitter on a project must be sealed under a medium that prevents it's flaking or rubbing off, so something like glossy accents or dimensional glaze or even modge podge has to cover it. Cards must be 4.25 x 5.5 in size and must be stamped on the back with the OWH stamp and then sent with a packing slip to the shipper. Envelopes are not required, but if you include them, they have to be tucked - flap folded backwards and card front slid inside with the back part over the tuck - so that the fronts of the cards don't rub against each other and cause unnecessary wear on the paper and embellishments.
There are also guidelines about what kinds of cards to send, and what kinds of cards NOT to send, so I have a list of "topics" that will help me think of a way to use up scrap paper from layouts that I've finished. Maybe this card making thing will help me get my scrap box under control as well. (bwhahahahahahaha)
I think this will be the way I post cards here - just wait until I have a half-dozen or so and photograph them all at once. It seems a logical way to do it.
This set has 1 Christmas 2 Birthday 2 Easter 2 Just Because
All are blank inside so the soldier has plenty of room to write a note to his or her family.
Thanks for taking a peek. There's a website for OWH if you're interested in participating.
