Very neat old fort layout. Those are so hard for me to do but I like yours! I like that you included information on the fort - the history is always so interesting to me. You got my interest and now my husband is on line researching Port Royal and this fort.
I just love your LO. The color and the gorgeous photos. Terrific use of the ticket but how much is $400.00 Jamician dollars versus US? That is alot of guns!
Fort Charles, which was originally named Fort Cromwell, is the first of the six forts to be built for the protection of Port Royal, Jamaica. The building of the structure was begun in 1655, not long after the British assumed control of the island. Towards the end of the 17th century it had 500 men and 104 big guns, and was well stocked and prepared to defend. In later years the fort served as a prison.
