Rachel this is beautiful! I know how difficult it is to watch your parents decline. I also know you will cherish the memories of the good times and appreciate the stories of the difficult times. My prayers are with you.
The prompt for my Christmas Journal for the 22nd was to look at what I'm thankful for. Right now, my sweet old mum is dying - very happy to be dying, and to be with my Dad again. She has been quite a handful to the carers looking after her, but nevertheless they still love her! I pulled out a photo I took surreptitiously when she was doing her hair on a short break away at Easter 2010, and used it to remind myself why I am thankful to my parents at Christmas-time. It was poignant to do this page, but I'm glad its in my album as she was unable to stay with us this year. The soft pale silky ricrac braid was part of the treasure trove of lace and ribbon which we found when clearing her house!
