Journaling: When asked if I have any quirks, my immediate response was, "Of course not". But I knew that was unrealistic. So I asked my daughters. Susi, my oldest daughter, said the one that she remembers from childhood and still totally baffles her today is the fact that I MUST close all drapes and curtains the minute the sun sets. She is right. I can't stand the thought of being on display. When I drive through a neighborhood and see people watching TV, eating dinner or anything else in their home thinking they are privately living their life and in reality they are lit up like a TV screen, I want to knock on their door and tell them to close their drapes.

Linda, the youngest, said she would think my obsession with my purse and keys would definitely qualify as a quirk. She is right, too. I can be on a trip and touch my purse behind me just to make sure it is there, even though I haven't left the car from the last time I checked. At work, I constantly pat my pocket to make sure my keys are still there. Now, I add my phone to that "quirk". My feelings for my purse have been with me a long time. Susi remembers going to Bible class, carrying my purse. The teacher would ask why she always brought my purse with her and she would answer, "She might forget me, but I KNOW she won't forget her purse." Linda would cry if I would leave her in the church nursery, but if I showed her that I was leaving my purse, she would be calm.
