WOW, what a neat piece of family history to preserve. You did such a beautiful job on this LO! I love the rustic vintage feel of this era in your design. Beautiful!
This is just so wonderful. I cannot even tell you how much I love this page. The letter really touched my heart. Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us.
This is fabulous! Love how you did your title and those dog tags are wonderful! Everything about this lo is so masculine and just perfect (love your bg). So glad you were able to incorporate that letter!
WOW Dianne!!!!! What a fabulous heritage lo!!!! I love the rugged masculine feel here!!! The old photo & letter make this such a treasure!!! Big FAV for me!
So memorable heritage page! Love it very much! This war was very hard for the Russian people. So long time – from June 22, 1941 till May 9, 1945. More 20 millions of the Russian people were killed during this war. My dad and my grandpa fighted on this war. My grandpa was killed, my dad was hard injured and got his disability after healing in a hospital. He had the government awards (the medals). I still keep them to show and tell my grandkids about their great-grandfather. There will be celebrated the Victory Day tomorrow in Russia. Very small quantity if the people who battled on this war is still alive , and we have very respectful relationship to them. Dianne, thank you for sharing this page!
Oh I love it!!! The background is perfectly rustic and gives great texture. You placed the dogs tags, letter & pic SO PERFECT! THE WWII letters at bottom are AWESOME! I totally enjoy historical Vintage or Antique Photos and Pages! I have boxes of this type stuff to get going! You've inspired me!
This is such a wonderful idea! I have been wanting to do a heritage layout of my grandfather in his Army uniform and now you have given me wonderful inspiration to get started on it! Thanks for sharing!
This LO is precious for you and your family. It's great you scrapped it. It is the best way to preserve some important memories to cherish. Love the details.
OMGosh I didn't know that you could do that. I think my brother has my dad's dogtags. Way cool. Total fave for me! I have letters I need to do something like this with. This is beautiful.
Such a beautiful letter, I got chickenskin (is that the right word in english?), you did a beautiful layout with this! The Letters in corrugated cardboard is a super idea!
What a picture of a normal day in the life of a military member even today! What a great layout and vintage military page! As a vet I can say I wrote similar letters home though from deserts rather than jungles, what great family memories.
A letter from my Grandfather to his Mother... Admiralty Islands 12 June 1945
Dearest Mother; Your letter a few days ago. The reasons I don't write anymore often is that there is just nothing to write. The same old things everyday. No where to go. Nothing to do. No towns to see. Only jungles. The battle scared islands are all alike. After you have seen one you have seen them all. Haven't any news about the war. Seems like air raids are going on steady. Am enclosing a picture of myself on the base photo took while I was sitting at the MMA's desk. Real good for an inside picture. Do you think I have been will fed? Mother no more to write. So just say I am fine as fine can be. Love your Son.
The dog tags I had made online with his name and birthday in place of the social security number and his religion I copied the order from the layout of a real dog tag..my mother has his original with the flag from his coffin and the pic and the letter are copies. I still have the originals, I made three other pages like this for each of brothers and one for my mother this is her father..he passed in 1998. He was like many others at that time he signed up after the Pearl Harbor bombing in was already in his 30's so assigned to be an accountant for the Navy.
