Journalling reads: "For the first 8 months of his life, Liam had been on supplementary oxygen, due to Neonatal Chronic Lung Disease. The paediatricians at the hospital said that it was most likely due to scarring forming on his lungs after being ventilated (a machine breathing for him) for the days following his premature birth. As part of the weaning process from home oxygen, Liam underwent a sleep study involving being attached to an oximeter, and his oxygen saturation needed to stay over 95% percent in order for him to be free of prongs and tubing forever. And guess what? Liam stayed at 98-100% ALL night and, as a result, was able to cease home oxygen a week later. It was so exciting being able to finally cuddle him and walk him around the house without having to worry about blocking off his tubing anymore. Six weeks later, all of the equipment was removed from our house (oxygen concentrator, cylinders etc) and it was a wonderful - yet also scary - thing".
