Oh my! I haven't heard of a mango allergy. They're my favourite fruit! I think it's great to scrap both good and less fortunate moments in life. It helps you to appreciate the good times. Sorry that this happened to you.
So sorry you had to deal with that. I'm allergic to sulfur drugs and get violently ill to them, but I didn't know about it until I was on a routine antibiotic that was sulfur based and my mouth and tongue swelled. Glad u
You are okay. I have a friend who is severely allergic to mangos too. Glad you are feeling better.
Wow! Never thought one could be allergic to Mango's...just goes to show we never to old to learn something new. Thank you for sharing this difficult time. You scrapped it beautifully. So glad that your doctor listened to you and that you are all well now!
Holy cow--your eyes were REALLY swollen! I'm glad that you are okay after all of that. I don't think that we should scrap only the perfect events in our lives. Life isn't perfect.
Oh man, and I thought I had it bad with an allergic reaction to old makeup. Did pretty much the same thing and scrapped it too. We scrap all the good days why not a couple of the bad ones! I can see mango doing that to a person, especially 10 gallons!! I'm surprised you can even walk by a mango!! Love the fonts and colors.
Goodness - you poor thing!! I hope all is cleared up now. I have no problem with "real life" scrapbooking. In all honesty, I don't do it all that often. But sometimes those are the most compelling layouts to look at.
Oh you must NEVER do mango's again!!!!!!!! And I'm with you if all we scrap is the easy and beautiful side of life then we are fooling the next generation that will get our books!
And who ever said doctors actually get things right 100% of the time? You did an amazing job on this. Life is what is and in the future this may save one of your relatives from a bad reaction. Very brave!
Yikes! You poor thing! Definitely understand why you scrapped it and I am all for your reasoning for doing so...cuz as you said "Life isn't always pretty". Despite the subject and photos it's a neat layout! I like the "notebook paper" and "binder clip" embellishments and that you prettied it up w/ the flourishes and butterfly!
wow - thank you for sharing! Yes I am still honoured! Life is about ups and downs and sometimes we don't even know what causes the downs (or the ups) . I have always felt like you - you have to scrap it all - I find it cathartic. I love the fonts you chose for the title and the beautiful papers - and that butterfly !
I apologize if these pictures offend anyone. I really struggled with whether to scrap them or not, but this was a very memorable "event" in my life, one that still haunts me. If we only scrap the good things, our albums will show future generations a very skewed picture of who we are - just my two cents!
Journaling: It started as a little puffiness in my left eye. The walk-in clinic diagnosed it as an infection and gave me antibiotics. The emergency room did blood cultures, a CT scan, and gave me even more antibiotics and an ointment to put in my eye. Still the swelling continued to get worse, along with the redness and blistering. After three days of not being able to even pry my left eye open to use the ointment, I finally convinced my doctor that it was not an infection; it was an allergic reaction. We have pretty much decided it was the 10 gallons of mangos I peeled, but are not positive. Still, I shudder every time I walk past the mangos in the store, and make sure I don't touch the tree at my mom's house. photo June 5, 2013
