The Peace House

This layout was created for a very different and unique challenge by Char, one of our beloved Rockin' Grans. We were asked to go out into our community and find a structure that we found interesting. The house I'm documenting was built in 1927 and was one of the original Garden Grove houses(about 15 minutes from Disneyland). The black rocks used to build the house are called Chinker bricks. They were baked too long by mistake and created unusual volcanic shapes. The peace sign was hung by one of the owners in the 60's during the Vietnam war. Miles and Sarah (current owners) thought it might be bad luck to take it down. This challenge meant a lot to me because it got me out in the community. Now a days it just seems like we're all afraid to talk to one another. Thanks Char!!
