This is one of my favorite photos of all time! It is from on of the higher decks looking down at the people on the very front of the ship.

This was a far as we could go without being in danger.

This is what the polar ice cap looks like. The further into it you go, the more solid it is. In a very little distance, it is a solid sheet of ice and only ice-cutting ships can go in.

Our ship cannot handle ice! Only the science research vessels are prepared for that.
