On Wednesday, August 3 at 10:00 am, our beloved pet, Rascal was put to rest. He was with us for eight short years, loving us, playing with us, cuddling with us, and filling our lives with joy.

Two months ago he was charging through the house, jumping on and off the bed, and playing with his favorite big blue squeaky bone. Now, barely into this summery month, he's gone.

Without warning, Rascal developed heavy breathing which sent us rushing him to the emergency animal clinic late one Saturday night at the end of July. We were told he had anemia. Several weeks, vet visits, and blood tests later, we were told that he most likely has cancer. Vitamins and Prednisone gave Rascal more comfort and us a few more weeks with him, but a few more years wouldn't have been long enough. He was a sweet, loving, patient friend, and we miss him more than anyone can know unless they've experienced the loss of a cherished pet themselves.
