Sunday, July 20th, 2014 – Slept late, had a late breakfast and then played trivia at 2:00. We did very well, only missed 2 questions but unfortunately another team got them all right. (Note to self – the only two countries in South America that do not touch Brazil are Chili and Ecuador. Also, the Olympics were cancelled 3 times, not 2 times as we thought.)

Skipped lunch today because we weren't hungry because breakfast was so late and we were saving our appetites for the cupcake tea at 3:00. Bill really loves the chocolate cupcakes with the maraschino cherry on top and I love the scones. Even the egg salad sandwiches were good! I'm surprised how many of the men go to the cupcake teas with their wives. And I'm especially surprised that Bill agrees to go and even seems to look forward to them! We both love the apple-cinnamon tea but unfortunately, we both take it with a lot of sugar!

Monday, July 21st, 2014 – After a nice breakfast on the ship we set out to explore Killybegs, Ireland.

We started at a local hotel where there was a craft fair upstairs. I have a turquoise bead multi-strand necklace that I bought for this cruise before we left home. I had matching earrings but lost one of them in Liverpool. I was thrilled to find a set of earrings at the craft fair that matches the necklace and I like them better than the original earrings!

We used the internet in the hotel and then walked around town. This is one of those ports that made us ask each other, “Why did they bring us here?”

It is the first port, I think, that we've ever visited where I didn't even take the lens cap off my camera.

A group of girls (very young teenagers) from a local Irish dance school presented a traditional Irish dance performance which was quite nice but we only watched part of it because there weren't enough seats and I can't stand for an hour. The room was so crowded I could only get an occasional glimpse at the top of their heads.

There was only 10 minutes left of the afternoon cupcake tea when we got back so we grabbed two egg salad finger sandwiches each and two scones each and took them to trivia to eat while we played. We only had 4 people on our team and we got 11 right out of 15. The winning team had 12. Not too bad.

I botched the question, “Whose face launched a thousand ships?” I told our team it was Joan of Arc and that is what we put. The correct answer was Helen of Troy. I knew that - brain just wasn't engaged.

I now know that “Z” is the least used letter of the alphabet (we guessed “X”) and more words start with “S” than any other letter. I correctly guessed that the language with the largest vocabulary was English.

On cold days there is a big pot of hot chocolate next to the ship's gangway so you can warm up with a cup before you get back on board. (On hot days it ice water, cold lemonade and ice cold bath clothes to wipe your face and arms with - the cloths are stored in big buckets of ice water and sometimes have pieces of ice on them). Anyway, people were still coming back on the ship so the hot cocoa machine was still going.

We had plenty of time to get back off the ship and get a nice steaming cup of hot cocoa before they put it away.
